Burning Versa

Hey all,

About a week ago, I noticed my Versa acting a little funny. It was struggling to keep a battery charge and keep track of exercises and steps. I followed the directions on the site and reset the device. That helped but the following week, I would see these golden lines that ran from the top to the bottom of the screen. These lines were golden in the middle and spanned to green on each side. I contacted Fitbit customer service but they didn't have a solution. I had the device on this morning and felt a sharp pain (as if it was pulling the hair on my arm). Within seconds, the pain got much worse. I removed the device and realized how hot the bottom of the device was. I now have a spot on my wrist were the device burnt my skin and the device will no longer turn on. My versa is less than 21 months old. I love my device, but I want to let others know so they are aware they could be burnt if their devices do the same things.

Thank you Wendy! The device will no longer come on or charge. I feel the heat was an indicator it was basically frying inside. I am contacting Fitbit again, but haven't gotten a lot of support. Basically they recommend I use their 25% off discount and purchase a new device. I was told they wouldn't reference approximately how long a device should last. I'm curious if this is the average life for other Versas. Even though it has many features, I've never put it in water or let water splash on it. I've strictly worn it as a watch and when I work out. I don't use any of the other features and it's never been dropped...as I have been asked multiple times.

Sounds like its out of warranty thats why you got the offer of the discount

A lot of things come in to play on how long the device last. Care and charging the device correctly  and the main ones

I have had mine since 9/5/19 and its still going strong.

All my devices have lasted 3 or more years

Thank you for answering that question. I typically don't have trouble making things last for a long time. I was worried it was being overworked because I exercise regularly and for long lengths of time. I will pay extra close to how I charge the new device and see if I've missed something. Again, thank you!
