As far as the eating, that is an external action as additional activity throughout the day is.
Yesterday I spent 3,115 calories in 24 hours and ate food/drink equivalents of 1470 calories. My body stores enough reserve to draw the difference. Some days I eat more, not very many days less. If a "more" day, I purposely try to be more active.
