I am not sure if I have a damaged unit, but my Fitbit Versa has some serious issues.

  • Based off of my height, weight, and age it should automatically track the distance with GPS during runs. I used a Garmin before on the same 5k route that I always run and it was perfect every time. The first time I used my Versa on the exact same route it was about a 1/4 mile short of a mile. So, I calculated and adjusted my stride length. Now it is a 1/4 mile past. I am going to go back to a local running track and test the accuracy there to see if it is even accurate at all.
  • However, that is not the only issue. I have been up for almost 5 hours today, haven't done a workout yet and have been sitting at work just doing paperwork all morning. Somehow it says I burned 1,047 calories. That is not possible. Are these calories burned or something else?
  • Next issue, I was sitting here at my desk and it vibrated and said I needed 6 more steps this hour. I continued to sit here and 30 seconds later it said I completed those 6 steps. I literally didn't even stand up.
  • Next, I have my location, Bluetooth, and vibration turned on for my phone. I have it synced to my Versa, yet I'm not getting notifications when I get texts or calls.
  • Lastly, you can't lock this thing during workouts. So when I play hockey, my glove often bumps the start/pause or finish button and it ends my work out with out me knowing.

Unless someone has some serious answers for me I will be returning my Versa and going back to my Garmin, which is about 5 years old, and works better than this brand new product.

I can answer the calories burned question... Fitbit tracks not only additional calories burned from working out, but also your BMR (the calories you burn just by being alive). You probably burn somewhere between 1200-2200 calories a day just from normal activities. It'll track those too.
