I just purchased my Fitbit Versa and the calorie counter has months of history. Reviewing my first few hours of use my count is very high. Is there a way to ensure more accuracy? Thanks!

Those are your BMR (basal metabolic rate) calories that you are always burning just by being alive.  Fitbit credits them even when you are not wearing the tracker, and also shows them back in history as far as you look.  There is no way of removing them from history.

See How does my Fitbit device calculate calories burned?

Before posting, re-read to see if it would make sense to someone else not looking at your Fitbit or phone.
