Can this access the Internet?

I'm interested in the Versa 2.  We are not allowed to have our phones or anything that accesses the Internet at my job.  Does the Versa 2 access the Internet?  Only wireless?  Does my phone have to be close by (not locked in my car 30 yards away but in my pocket) for it to do so?

The Versa 2 does not access the Internet directly.  It only accesses the Internet through your phone or computer.

Hello @Mennolly22 and a warm welcome.  If you are military or government or have a security clearance or there are other reasons where you must leave your phone in your car, then a Versa 2 is generally not allowed.  Versa 2 can make a wi-fi connection and it has digital storage capabilities.

Security professionals (who are paid to worry about these things) consider devices like the Ionic/Versa/Versa 2 to be hackable devices and a security risk.

You HR should have a list of allowable devices.  My security clearance was retired when I retired from the military.  But my husband and son in law both have active clearances.  The only tracker from the Versa family that is allowed is the Versa Lite.

Thanks for your reply.  There’s no wireless connection where I work.  I believe this would be allowed only because my phone is inaccessible at work, and if I understand correctly, I cannot access the Internet without it, or a wireless connection.  I’m hoping I’m right.

Thanks for your reply.  I’m thinking it won’t be a problem then.

@Mennolly22   Please check with your HR before buying a Versa 2.  The restrictions are there for security reasons.  There is concern that you will be bringing in a hacked device -- this is true for all many brands of fitness trackers, not just Fitbit.  And you won't even know it.

There is no wireless connection where my family members work.  Cell phone signals cannot penetrate the building, but cell phones can't be brought in.  The Versa 2 is definitely on the "you cannot use this device" list.
