Cannot install or set up new Versa

I bought a Versa for my wife, and I am having all kinds of trouble setting it up and pairing it with her Samsung S10.  The screen of the FitBit says to download the app.  I did that, followed everything on the screen, and when it starts to download everything, I get a red X on the fitbit as step 2 is finishing.  The fitbit itself then returns to the main screen saying to download the app and my wife's phone is stuck on step 3 "installing".  I've tried to delete the app and start the entire process over, and the same thing happens over and over.  I cant get past the initial start up screen on the Fitbit saying to download the app.
