Check laps on Versa 2 display while swimming

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Hello, I have purchased the versa 2 specifically to count my laps for swimming but when I have gone to use it it doesn’t seem to display them on the screen. Is this not an option as I don’t want to wait until I am back at my phone to be able to see the number of lengths I have done because I Like to do a certain amount

Hi @Crthorn89, welcome to the Community Forums!

Thanks for bringing this to my attention, the details that were shared in your post are appreciated. On certain Fitbit devices, you can review a post-workout summary on your wrist but for complete swim stats the exercise history needs to be reviewed in the Fitbit app. From the Fitbit app dashboard, tap the exercise tile > your most recent swim and to learn more about this please check our help article: How do I track my swims with my Fitbit device?

Let me know if you have any additional questions.

Thank you for your response, much appreciated! I will return my versa as this is no good to me. I think this is an improvement that should be made as essentially the versa is just a waterproof stop watch whilst in the pool. I imagine most swimmers want to know what they have actually done before getting out of the pool as you want to make sure you are doing as much or more than precious swims. Just some constructive feedback as it seems a simple thing to change

Can I just check, if I get the old versa then does that show laps on the screen?

Following as I am looking to buy one for my son for swimming.  I was going to buy versa 2, but I guess versa is what we need???

Lap counting is a basic function for swimming. Whoever designed the swim app is probably not a swimmer. We will be returning the Versa2 and going back to Garmin.

Best Answer

Yes it does. My wife had the old Versa on which she could see laps swam and pause whilst in the pool.  Unfortunately, it stopped working after a couple of years so I bought her the “upgraded” Versa 2.  We will also e returning it. Such a disappointment.

Hi Ricardo. This is indeed very disappointing. I only use fitbit for swimming since I am not a runner person. My friend had the Versa Fitbit and I always had to ask her how many swim lengths we have already done. That's why I bought the newer version of Versa, namely Versa 2 because I thought the newer one is always better. Now I came to the conclusion that the Fitbit only tracks how many minutes you've been swimming?? Why is the new one less better than the old one? This just doesn't make sense ... Is there improvement on the way? I don't understand why you should not include this in the new version.

Your Reply was not an answer. My Versa 1 tracked my laps while swimming, not just when closing out. When I bought the Versa 2, I assumed all of the old features would still be there and new ones added.Your advertising literature says that laps are counted, but I naively assumed that would also occur while swimming as in the Versa. Wrong.  What we are asking for is to bring the Active Lap Feature back. It should be just a sofware update.

I also just bought a versa 2 to replace my versa that had died. The way the versa kept track of stats during the swim was great and the fact that the versa 2 just has a glorified timer and a cheesy "keep going!" Message is very disappointing. Please bring back the lap counter!

I couldn't agree with you more. It is very disappointing that the live
lap-count isn't displayed. I usually think of other things while I'm
swimming, but now I have to keep track of the laps instead of doing other
things mentally. I've lost count now a few times, and it's very irritating.

A pathetic, jargon-laden, condescending response. We don't give a *&%^& about your concern for our fitbit 'experience'. We just want our &*^%&* lap counter back. You haven't answered the question. Are you going to do something about it or no. Yes or no? I guess from this reply the answer is 'no'. Just say it and put us out of our misery so we can shop somewhere else. A decent company would fix the problem with an app or new software. You clearly have absolutely no understanding of our frustration, otherwise you'd do either something about it or explain why you won't.

Just returned from my first swim, and im gobsmacked the lap counter has been removed...This is my 3rd Versa, accepted the half price offer for the Versa 2, if it had been made clear the softwear for Swimming had changed, i would have taken the offer of a FOC, Versa and not part with £100..extremely disappointed  Fitbit...Bring back the counter..If its space you need remove the Watch faces ...Please advise if i can have a refund and swop back to the orginal Versa ..

Same disappointments here, including Fitbit cust. help. They always reply with an unreal amount of courtesy and concern, with the standard links to "how to use your Fitbit". Patronising. And the advertising is suffiently vague.

Need software update. Google, please buy Fitbit and make it work...

So I switched to a Garmin because of this issue, it has worked great for some time now but I am considering coming back to fitbit because I like the metrics a little better, I also have an aria and would like all my fitness info in one app.  However, I can't go back unless the swim lap counter was brough back and viewable while you are swimming.  Does anyone know if they fixed this issue with the Versa 3?

I am beyond infurious. I have a Versa 2. I loved my original Versa. SO UNHAPPY THAT THEY REMOVED THE ABILITY TO COUNT LAPS WHILE YOU SWIM. WHY DID YOU CHANGE THIS????? This is an important feature for swimmers. I don't need the timer. There's a clock in the pool area. This is so FRUSTRATING. I have spoken to 4 different tech support people. Each said I should be able to keep track of laps in real time as I swim. No one can help and they keep stringing me along telling me they will send an email with more information. No email in over a week. EXTREMELY UNHAPPY with this product. It was NOT upgraded, it was downgraded!

Stick with Garmin. Don’t bother getting another Fitbit. They haven’t sorted this issue and clearly have no plans to. It’s beyond frustrating. It’s not fit for purpose and their wording is misleading at best.

Even some one of the other swimming apps that previously worked with Fitbit now don’t. They clearly know Fitbit aren’t investing any time or effort here.

dont waste your money. 😞

Completely agree. There are clocks and timers at all competitive and non competitive pools to watch our time. Swimmers need something to track their distance, and not have to wait to check stats after their swim. Clearly the designers know nothing about swimming. Why take away a feature once available on the first generation Fitbit Versa? I'm returning my Versa 3 unless someone assures me a software update is coming to include the feature within the next month. This is just ludicrous. SO DISAPPOINTED. GRRRRRR. Fitbit, you should be ashamed. Do your homework please.
