DIY Fix For Blank Screen?

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

My first versa lasted 10 months, screen went black, replaced under warranty.  My second one just had the screen go black (after 9 months) and after working with customer service we still couldn't get it to respond. No replacement offered but a discount on a new one (yeah... Sure, sign me up after two died in less than a year!).  So now I can either throw this in the trash or try some sort of DIY fix. Has anyone found one?  Opening it, etc?  When I press the left button the screen "lights up" black but no color or responsiveness.  Tried both the two button restart and the three button factory reset. No luck. Any ideas out there?

Thank you for visiting the Fitbit Community @Annconfused.

I'm very sorry to hear about the difficulties you experienced with your Fitbit Versa. We appreciate your feedback and the information provided.

Our team is constantly working to improve our products and services. Please be aware that we don't recommend repairing Fitbit products.

If you haven't done it already, you can perform a factory reset by following the next steps but keep in mind that your apps, stored data, personal information, credit and debit cards, and saved settings will be deleted from the device:

  1. Press and hold the three buttons on your Fitbit for up to 20 seconds.
  2. Once the logo is shown on the screen and then disappear, release the bottom button and hold the other two until you hear a strong vibration. This indicates the reset has started, so you have to release the other two buttons.
  3. This procedure can take several seconds and from time to time the watch will reset to zero showing the logo and the Fitbit.com/setup site.
  4. If the bottom button is not released at the right time or this procedure is not followed correctly, the logo will be shown quickly and the watch will restart without completing the factory reset.

Thanks for the advice, but I already tried that factory reset and the screen is just staying black, no response and it is charged. My biggest "beef" is that I bought a versa, it lasted less than a year (black screen). I got a replacement and it lasted less than a year (black screen) and now I am not being offered a replacement.  I understand that it is beyond 1 year since my original purchase, but doesn't this type of performance (or lack of) warrant a new device? (Replacement)?

Doesn't look like they read your responses judging by the text book replies. Sounds like a cable inside the watch is either not connected correctly or has come loose. I bought one off ebay with a black screen issue and when I opened it up one of the screen connectors wasn't connected. Pressed it back on and worked straight away.
