I have a red circle with an x in it. Below it says Data not cleared sync and try again. Tried that. Still there.

I assume you have performed a factory reset?
Have you tried going into the Fitbit app on your phone and removing your Versa from there, also go into the settings app on your phone and Bluetooth settings and unpair it from there. Now go back into the Fitbit app and try the set up procedure again.
