hello, i just got a versa 2 and have noticed that it's giving me lots of steps (last night was 150) while I'm sleeping. Also it counts steps when i use a hairdryer or do any exaggerated arm movement. My old Alta did not do this. Wondering if I should return or if there is anything i can do to lower the sensitivity of the step tracker? Thank you

Hello @arbo123, welcome to the Community Forums! It's a pleasure to assist you today.
Thanks for bringing this to my attention. I'd like to share with you that Fitbit devices have a finely-tuned algorithm for step counting. The algorithm is designed to look for intensity and motion patterns that are most indicative of people walking and running. When working at a desk, cooking, or performing other activities with arm movements, a device on your wrist may add some steps. When you’re doing activities that involve arm movement (such as working or cooking) you often walk a few steps in-between stationary periods as well, so the device tries to give you credit for those steps.
For most users the number of extra steps added by arm-based movement isn’t significant when compared to your overall stats. For more information, see How does my Fitbit device count steps?
In regards the steps that are being recorded while you're sleeping, can you please let me know when was the first time you experienced this and how many times since then? The amount of the steps recorded are usually within the rage of 100-150 steps? If you haven't already done so, please restart your device to refresh its performance.
Let me know if you have any additional questions.

Hi Ricardo,
My Versa 2 just started recording steps while I sleep as well. This is a new development. By morning today, there were over 300 steps recorded. Normally there are about 24 to account for getting up once during the night.

Hello - I just got my charge 4 yesterday, I wore it to bed to track my sleep activity and I’ve woken up today to find it’s recoded 1,019 steps through the night!

Mine did that last night too, except my Charge 4 logged over 30,000 steps all at once right before I woke up. 150 is one thing... but thirty thousand?

Forgive my resurrecting this old thread but I got the new Charge 5 yesterday, I went to bed just after midnight and the step count was approx 250 steps. I woke to find that apparently at about 1:45am when I was fast asleep I walked 1000 steps. Can you explain why this may have happened?

My Charge 3's done over 38,000 steps overnight (while I'm wearing it). Happened a few weeks ago but I didn't pursue it at the time. I wondered if it's a sign it's on the way out, but clearly not if Versas and now Charge 5s are reporting it...

Mine logged 4000 between 12am-1215am last night and is not giving me accurate HR all day (e.g., after 10 pull ups I'm at 90). I've had issues with HR not accurately frequently but only two or three times more than 300 asleep. I've restarted twice today which usually fixes things. Help?
