Difference in exercise tracking

Just got a new versa- did my regular walk on Friday and it recorded it as a 41 min walk burning 347 calories 4707 steps. Did same exact walk/pace today  and it recorded 34 min elliptical 261 calories burned and 4064 steps. Why is there such a difference in what is recorded for time and calories burned?

Hi @Renrib77, it's nice to see you again in our Community Forums!

Congratulations on your new Fitbit Versa! I understand your concern with the difference in stats you see when tracking the same activity. Please let me know if you used the Exercise app to track your walk or SmartTrack? Did you use GPS?

If you used SmartTrack feature to automatically recognize your activity, it is possible that a difference in speed or movement could affect the time of the recorded walk, since SmartTrack recognizes activities based on the continuous movement of your arms. By default, SmartTrack recognizes an exercise that lasts at least 15 minutes. I recommend lowering the time auto-exercise recognition setting to 10 minutes to improve accuracy.

For more information about tracking exercise and activity, please see this help article: How do I track exercise and activity with my Fitbit device?

Let me know how it goes! Robot Happy
