Difficulties to sync with Spotify

Hi,

I have just set up my new Versa 2 - during the set up process it went through a firmware update (not unusual).

I got everything working OK, but I noticed that the Spotify app was completely unreliable and almost always unusable (message to check bluetooth is on and sync etc..). It appears to be a problem that is well documented and that pretty much everyone is experiencing.

For reference, my mobile is an iPhone XR.

I tried the Spotify HR app as an alternative - that too experienced issues, but I think the error message it gave was more useful: "Lost connection to fitbit app" - i.e. the fitbit app on my phone.

Regarding the Spotify issues, I have tried everything that anyone has ever suggested and still the issue persists. It's a great let-down with the watch and an awful user experience.

I noticed that sometimes notifications take longer than I would expect to come through.

Overall, this to me looks like the underlying issue is how the watch syncs to the app on the phone. Spotify (and Spotify HR) are likely failing owing to account connection issues, which are caused by the poor synchronisation process.

The watch is very nice, but the apparent sync issues let it down very badly. I bought this as an alternative to the iWatch - it's very much cheaper. Now I wonder though, had I bought an iWatch, everything would have probably just worked perfectly and the watch would have lasted for years - it might have been the better investment.

@Fitbit - there's no smoke without a fire - so many of your customers are complaining. Once you get a bad reputation for reliability, you trend downwards and so does the business. Please sort this out.

Welcome to the Fitbit Community @Vush.

I'm sorry to hear that you are having difficulties with the Spotify apps. Thank you for your feedback and for trying to resolve the issue.

Our team is constantly working to improve the Fitbit experience and appreciate your comments.

In order to provide feedback about non Fitbit apps like Spotify HR, you can go to the app description and find the name of the developer. It will give you also an option to reach out them directly.

Regarding the Spotify app, you can follow the next steps:

  1. Remove your Versa 2 from the Bluetooth settings.
  2. Turn off any other Bluetooth devices that are nearby.
  3. Verify if the Fitbit app is updated to the latest version.
  4. Restart your Versa 2.
  5. Add your Versa 2 to your iPhone XR's Bluetooth.
  6. Open the Fitbit app, tap your profile picture > Versa 2 icon > Sync Now.
  7. Tap on Apps > Spotify and make sure there isn't any pending update.
  8. Make sure Spotify and the Fitbit app are running on the background.
