I feel it has been incorrectly installed however it is very strange that in Fitbit they make such mistakes.

It was an error. Phew. There was a black protector cover on the Versa that my son placed on the new Versa that made it look like the Versa had no cover. He put the cover upside down giving the appearance of an issue. Gah, I feel so dumb. Sorry for the inconvenience.
