Hi, and welcome to the Community!
Your Fitbit is ready for the water and there's no need to do anything beforehand but note this comment from the care instructions:
"Fitbit products are made to be water resistant. Fitbit Ace 2, Charge 3, Flex 2, Ionic, Inspire family and Versa family can be worn in the lake, the pool or the ocean, and Fitbit Ace can be worn in the shower. Still, it’s important to thoroughly dry your device and elastomer band and remove any debris after wear in the water to avoid skin irritation. Please note that non-elastomer accessories should not be worn in water."

No, it's just saying that the Ace can only be worn in the shower and not for swimming etc
All those mentioned can be worn in the shower

So, I just posted a request for help after swimming ONE TIME with my versa lite and it's now dead. 15 months old. Not abused, dirty, cracked or otherwise compromised. Hoping for an answer. Good luck to you. Be cautious.

I just found out that water damage is why my fitbit versa stopped working as well. Apparently, according to numerous other versa owners, they arent as water resistant as Fitbit claims. All you'll get is 25% off a new device, no replacement.

There have been complaints that swimming ruined Versa's. It's sold as safe for swimming, but if you're beyond warranty, you're on your own if it fails from swimming. So if you're out of warranty, you have to decide if it's worth the risk.
