Does SmartTrack auto recognize treadmill?

Hi! Wondering if anyone experienced this issue and how you fixed it.

My Versa auto-tracks the smallest amount of exercise (like walking a few blocks continually for 10 min) but will NEVER pick up my treadmill workout! The most frustrating part is that when I add the workout manually, it adds more steps to the steps it had already counted, inflating the daily count for nothing.

For example today I started at 4,000 steps and walked for 45 min, getting to 9,500 steps. Did not auto-track exercise so I added it manually. Now all of the sudden I am at 11k after adding the exercise.

This has been going on for ever but I’m getting annoyed. It’s not a matter of restarting the device (tried that already).

Any advice would be appreciated

@Amazona It's nice to see you around. Sorry for the delayed reply.

Thanks for sharing how this situation made you feel. I appreciate the restart you performed.

When you're using SmartTrack, it will auto recognize the following activities: Walk, Run, Outdoor Bike, Elliptical, Sport, Aerobic Workout and Swim. This won't auto recognize treadmill. However, you can automatically track it by starting the activity using your Versa. Learn more about it by checking this article: How do I track my activity with my Fitbit device?

It's recommendable to log activities when you don't wear your watch because if you wear your Versa and manually log the activity, this will override the data or give you more steps as it did when you manually log treadmill on your Dashboard.

I'll be around if you have any additional questions.

I have restarted, run all updates...no longer recognizes my exercise, Walking.  Its super frustrating...and then its messing what I have linked to my WW App.  I bought this to be more accurate than just logging steps on iPhone..

@hollybmd Welcome to the Community. Sorry for the delayed reply.

Thanks for the details mentioned. I see where you're coming from.

SmartTrack recognizes activities based on the continuous movement of your arms. Sometimes, motions such as placing your arms on the bar of a treadmill, or pushing a stroller while you walk, may interrupt SmartTrack. Additionally, stopping in the middle of an exercise may interrupt the activity tracking.

By default, SmartTrack recognizes an exercise that lasts at least 15 minutes. If your activities aren't being recognized, lowering the time auto-exercise recognition setting to 10 minutes may help ensure they record properly.

Keep me posted! I'll be around if you have any additional questions.
