Anyone have any clue when Fitbit (for the Versa) will;
1. Fix the sleep tracking problem where you could be sleeping great for say, 8 hours yet Versa says you only slept for 4? My only guess is that for some people the thresholds on pulse rate and movement are too low (this can differ person to person for many reason), that fixed cutoffs are likely used when there needs to be some way to adjust these.
2. What's it by now, a couple years since Fitbit first (supposedly) put SPO2 sensors into Ionic, Versa, and others, yet still not a hint of if and whether they will actually work? It's incredibly useful information, both on how you are doing when exercising, and an indication that perhaps sleep apnea is affecting your O2 levels - so what's the problem, and if or when they will ever work?

@pbug56 Ad 2. No ETA as of yet that I would be aware of.
Ad 1. Can you please attach some screenshots? My sleep is tracked without any issues, so perhaps we could attempt some trouble shooting here?

Hi,
I had numerous emails back and forth with Fitbit tech support on this. The scenario is simple. Example - I go to sleep at midnight, wake up a 8AM. I synch up (I'm set to manual synch except notifications), check my sleep. Let's say I've done the same hours 2 days in a row. First night it shows 8 hours, with a reasonable mix of light, rem, deep, with a few brief wake-ups. 2nd night, it shows 4 hours. Period. Each night I slept through. Another variation - it shows 2 hours sleep, nothing for 2 hours, then 2 hours sleep, then nothing. No analysis of course (under 3 hours). Only thing I can look at is resting pulse, and MAYBE it looks a tiny bit higher during the 'nothing' periods. My guess is that I was a bit higher in movement as well, though they don't provide a way to look at that.
The 2nd frustration is the SPO2 capability. Does it actually exist or was it true vaporware? As a long time software developer, I've encountered plenty of vaporware in my life. But after the Ionic never got its SPO2 sensing, you'd think they would stop announcing the feature in newer products. We truly have no way to know if it was anything beyond pure vapor.

@pbug56 Do you have any sleep presets set? E.g. bedtime reminders? Clear them and see if that helps, they're known to cause similar issues. Some other users have also reported similar situation when their Versa lost BT connectivity and could not sync. I know it's not your case per se as yours is set to Manual, but perhaps try setting it to All-day Sync? That is if the bedtimes do not help.

No presets. No reminders. BT is working normally. I can't set All Day Synch because sync takes over my phone, turns it into a hot, slow brick, and kills the battery. Fitbit software can't seem to 'tone down' the data stream that a Versa can generate if set to full synch, my Android s8+ became unusable, so Fitbit tech support locked out anything other than notifications.

SpO2 readings were and probably are a big selling point. At this point some honest answers would be nice.

Hi,
A bit of an update for you. Last night, Fitbit says I woke up around 5 - I actually got up at 7:30 and was asleep until 7:25 or so. Sunday I had about 6 hours sleep, Fitbit says I had none. FYI, watch is on my non-dominant wrist, is normally tight - you can get a finger under the button). No obvious reason that I can find.

@pbug56 hmmm what about HR tracking? For the night it didn't track sleep at all, did it track heart rate?

Good question. On the most recent sleep gap, Sunday night, there is a gap in the pulse tracking. Which makes one wonder why a watch, not super snug but normally snug, would stop tracking pulse. In terms of tightness. it's not loose but I can get one finger under it. Belt's leather.
Makes me wonder why, throughout all my exchanges with tech support, they never had me check that.

@pbug56 No HR = no sleep and calories burnt. HR may turn off if the battery on Versa is running low. You can either simply reboot or toggle OFF/ON the HR in the settings on Versa, or both!

Could be you band is to loose or something. It depends what u do with the arm during sleep.
I always put it under my pillow and that can cause the versa to shift position or being pushed away from you skin when its to loose. So no hearth rate will be measured ( and no sleep )
on the “SPO2” .... ITS A SHAME the way fitbit is handling this.

@pbug56 Out of range simply means below pre-established zones. Mine says the same. 🙂
