I've owned many health trackers over time. This last one was my fourth Fitbit. My second Versa.
The first Versa died splashing (no diving) at the beach. It was about 1,5 year-old. It was replaced by another Versa using a Fitbit rebate offer. At the time, I guessed it was bad luck. You know, I'm the kind of guy that takes care of his stuff.
Unfortunately, yesterday, getting out of the shower, I wanted to check the time and did the usual doubled-tap to activate the display. I barely saw the screen backlite but nothing else. I first thought the watch had a wake-up issue (which it never had). Then I did a second double-tap but this time, directly on the screen.
From that point, I knew. It sounded hollow. I carefully dried the Versa then shook it up. And there it was, water coming out of the screen side. Drying the watch even more revealed that the seal was compromised. Once again. In the shower.
Well, that's just enough. I'm done with Fitbit. I'm done with trackers that last less than 2 years. It is just an absolute non sense. I would accept some blame if I was rude with the tracker or did not take care of it. But, that's unfortunately not the case. The Versa screen seal is outrageously weak and just cannot survive the normal daily routine of a sports enthusiast - not even his shower.
I will put my money elsewhere because getting another Fitbit (a 5th one) will end-up the same way - in less than 20 months. Just not worth it.
It was fun. I evangelized for Fitbit. But now, that's just enough. I can't deal with this lack of quality anymore...
