Firmware update on new device

I recently installed the latest firmware update on my versa 2 and it stopped working (watch was 14 months old).  Contacted customer service and since the device was no longer covered under warranty I was given the option of buying a new watch at a discounted price. I bought a new versa 2 and am getting notifications that an update is available. I am hesitant on installing the update because of what happened to my other device. My question is has anyone else on this forum had a similar issue and purchased another watch, and if so did you install update successfully?

@74328 I've never had the exact same issue of buying a replacement due to update failure, but I've never had a Firmware update problem across 4 different models in 6 years.. And if it's brand new, it's returnable right? You have nothing to lose by updating. You don't  even have options like SP02 until the update that comes a few days after using a new Versa2.

Hi, yep the update ending 19 bricked 2 versa 2s I had, screen went black yet still worked.

Try deleting it on phone and put it in as new device, that got one work ing for a bit,

My one had been no trouble at all till I got the firm ware update and next morning screen black, yet phone still connecting. Got to be a bug in the update. Hth

I wouldnt trust an update if you are out of warranty. Wife updated her and now her battery doesn't even last a day.

My Fitbit was still in warranty. They sent me a replacement but it wouldn’t connect without doing an update on it and it had the same problem my other had. Couldn’t read heart rate so nothing was reading correctly. When I complained again I was told there was nothing they could do for me. They said maybe it would fix itself or maybe the next update would fix it.

If it's still under warranty, go for it!
