FitBit Versa water in screen?

I’ve had my Fitbit versa since July of 2018, it’s advertised as water resistant and even has a function to track swimming. I have swam in this watch and even taken a shower with it a time or two, and always dried it after and never had a problem.
I wore it today and washed my hands with it on. This is the only time it got wet but not soaked like it would be from swimming and the screen went black but has come on after some time but has lines through it. I’ve put it in rice but the screen is still damaged? Not sure what steps to take from here or if there are other ways to dry out a device.
thanks.

Only way I know is rice. How long did you leave it in the Rice? Sometimes it best for a day or more

I’ve left the watch in rice for a whole 2 days now and still the screen is black. For a watch that’s designed to swim in this is sort of disappointing.

after this firmware update, watering it down is the best thing you could do to it
