Since the last topic discussing bad sleep caused by wearing a Fitbit device (https://community.fitbit.com/t5/Other-Charge-Trackers/Fitbit-Induced-Insomnia/m-p/4753969#M233973) was just closed with a response that is not really relevant to the things discussed there, I wanted to open another thread to give Fitbit the chance to react to the health problems caused by not being able to turn of Bluetooth on the Fitbit devices (e.g. for sleeping).
For me personally, I don't get hung up on checking my Fitbit data so this was not the cause for my bad sleep. In fact, it's the radiation as stated here:
Electromagnetic fields (e.g. Bluetooth and Wifi) disrupt melatonin (https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/23051584/)
Furthermore, the results show the significance of disruption of melatonin due to exposure to weak EMFs, which may possibly lead to long-term health effects in humans.
which would explain the sleep problems. I asked and searched how to disable Bluetooth on the Fitbit itself but unfortunately, Fitbit refuses since years to implement an option to disable Bluetooth and Wifi for years now (contrary to other companies like Garmin and Samsung where an airplane mode is just a common feature). I just want to use my loved Fitbit normally but I don't want to sacrifice my health.
See:
https://community.fitbit.com/t5/Other-Versa-Smartwatches/Airplane-Mode/td-p/2597339/
https://community.fitbit.com/t5/Other-Versa-Smartwatches/Airplane-mode-Disable-Bluetooth/m-p/3251905
I measured the EMF of my Fitbit last week and it was more than 1500 µW/m² (so more than 0.75 V/m). In fact, the closer I got to the Fitbit Versa the higher the measured strength was and it exceeded the measuring range of my device which is up to 1999 µW/m².
If we follow the Building Biology Evaluation Guidelines for Sleeping Areas (https://www.baubiologie.de/downloads/english/richtwerte_2008_englisch.pdf), values above 1000 µW/m² (non-pulsed) or 100 µW/m² (pulsed) for radiofrequency radiation are in the category of extreme concern which - according to the guidelines - "call for immediate and rigorous action." The Fitbit Versa is clearly above that limit.
Thus my question: How is Fitbit going to protect our health and how will Fitbit achieve staying in the recommended limits for sleeping areas which is < 0.1 µW/m² (Bluetooth turned off)?

@SunsetRunner I agree with Riches response in the other thread. "There’s a name for an unhealthy obsession with achieving perfect sleep: orthosomnia."
If it bothers you so much, take it off at night? Or you can try making a suggestion thread. But my guess is it wouldn't get more than a few votes.
This is a user forum. You know, users helping each other? There are some moderators around, but Fitbit isn't really going to respond about what you think is a concern.

As stated above, this is not about a personal feeling, this is about Fitbit devices exceeding the healthy limits by a factor of more than 10.000. I currently don't wear my Fitbit device at all because of this issue.
There are already a lot of feature requests for the disability to disable Bluetooth and WiFi but they are ignored by Fitbit, e.g.:
- https://community.fitbit.com/t5/Feature-Suggestions/Ability-to-disable-Bluetooth-in-restricted-areas... (currently 1132 votes)
- https://community.fitbit.com/t5/Feature-Suggestions/Inspire-Ionic-and-Versa-Airplane-Mode/idi-p/2201... (328 votes)
- https://community.fitbit.com/t5/Feature-Suggestions/Disable-Turn-off-WiFi-on-smartwatches/idi-p/2661... (currently 77 votes)
- etc.
I think this is more than a few votes.
I started this topic to raise awareness. Even if this is a user froum, Fibit is still involved (this is not any forum, this is the official Fitbit forum of Fibit).

The 1100 votes is for restricted areas, not sleep which is your concern. Even 1100 is a fraction of Fitbit users. Not enough to get Fitbits attention.
Try making a sleep suggestion and I bet you get less than the 77 thread.
You're right, we're on Fitbit.com. So if a moderator doesn't agree with your awareness posts, they can delete them without explanation, or lock the threads, as you already saw.

I recently started developing night tremors when I sleep. I couldn’t quite figure out what was going on. I finally stopped wearing my Fitbit at night, and the terms have stopped.
I recommend not wearing it at night.
