Hi, everyone!
I am excited to announce the release of Fitbit OS 2.1! (Firmware Version: 32.32.10.15)
We've started to roll out this update to 10% of Versa users. This is a progressive rollout, and all Versa users can expect to have it within a few weeks. We roll out releases in phases as a cautionary measure so that we can monitor performance closely and make adjustments if needed.

I had this problem and found out it was the small fan on my nightstand. The fan vibration was enough to cause steps on my Versa. I put my Versa on my desk as night instead and the phantom steps stopped.

HAHA I am pretty sure this is a fitbit employee... 😄 Everytime i complain them their solution is to make sure no fan is running in the same place and I would think who is so dumb to do that. And.... 😄 😄 😄

Wow, insulting much? Not an employee, it happened to me. I'm far from dumb sweetie. I had a small oscillating fan on my night stand. I did not think it produced any serious vibrations because it's so small. I woke up and had 12 thousand plus steps and that was the culprit. I have had other issues with my Versa but not the phantom steps.

wow, what's the point of wearing it then? lol, no wind? How could you ride a bike or even run? My Versa went completely dead on me today after I did the firmware update. I've only had it a month. No response so far from tech support. I didn't bother waiting. I just returned it to Best Buy and got another one. I purchased their Geek Squad 2 year warranty thank God.

There must be more to the fan story than just the fan. Maybe the nightstand material is really flimsy? All I know it that my bed is more or less a fan in and of itself (I have a bedjet) and other fans that blow on me all night and I might wake up with 100 steps, but not thousands.

Nope, solid and very heavy wood. The fan was very small too. I am not saying this is the original posters issue. It was posed as a solution when I had the problem. It wasn't that the fan was blowing on me. I left my Fitbit on the nightstand to charge with the fan operating and that was when I got the excess steps. When I moved the fan off the nightstand I stopped getting the phantom steps.

The Versa charger is pretty flimsy and floppy.

That could have been my issue. The straps on the tracker made the charger raise up a bit so it probably made it vibrate pretty easy.

After reading about this "phantom steps" and read your comment, I tried it with my small fan sitting on my table beside my versa for few minutes... and you're right! from 5,367 steps it went up to 5,602. So I guess vibration can make additional steps with versa.

I don't really understand how a small fan cam result in steps. I have MI band 2 which costs 25 euros and tracks better step count then my 230 euro Fitbit. BTW i don't have a ceiling or a table fan or anything that generates vibrations for example microwave, refrigerator etc. I also keep my window closed so no wind as well. The only thing that could cause phantom steps is a real phantom in my room who likes to work out. Because most of the morning i wake up with my 10000 steps goal achieved. Thanks to the phantom in my room.

Yes it can. It doesn't seem like the fan is vibrating much but imagine how
many steps if left over night? I know it's not everyone's cause but it was
mine. Glad someone else experienced it. Thanks for responding.

Is it normal if you reset your gadgets and than it takes you the original software? Shouldn't it revert to it's latest OS that is currently running? If i hard reset my phone, i don't need to update its firmware but VERSA always wants that. Is okay?
