Fitbit Update 1/10/19:

Hi all!

Big thanks to everyone for your feedback on the release of Fitbit OS 3.0!

Since the majority of users have now updated to 3.0, I will be closing this thread from further comments to help keep our Community discussions on-topic.

If you are experiencing an issue outside of the firmware update process, I invite you to start a new thread on this forum and we will be happy to assist you there.

Thanks again and happy stepping! Smiley Happy

Fitbit Update 12/26:

Hey, everyone! We're aware that some of you may have noticed a fast battery drain on your Versa watches after completing this firmware update. Our team is investigating the root cause of this issue and whether it was caused by this update or other factors are involved.

In the meantime, if you're experiencing this problem please try a restart on the device then consider switching to a Fitbit made clock face! Many 3rd party clockfaces (especially those with animations) are known to use up more battery. If you try this out and are still seeing a fast battery drain, we can connect you with Customer Support for next steps or you can reach out to them and create a case.

We look forward to getting you all back on track!

Fitbit Update 12/22:

We've released Fitbit OS 3.0 out to 100% of users. Please make sure you have the latest version of the Fitbit app (2.84) before downloading the newest firmware.

We're excited for you all to have the newest Fitbit OS, but please let us know if you have any questions about this update. Happy Holidays, everyone!

Hi, everyone!

I am excited to announce the release of Fitbit OS 3.0! (Firmware Version: 32.33.1.30)

We've started to roll out this update and it's currently out to 20% of Versa users. This is a progressive rollout, and all Versa users can expect to have it soon. We roll out releases in phases as a cautionary measure so that we can monitor performance closely and make adjustments if needed.

WHAT'S CHANGED?

Please check out this help article to see what's new in this update.

HOW DO I UPDATE?

Step by step instructions for updating your Versa can be found here. We recommend updating your Versa over a home Wi-Fi network as this can greatly reduce the time it can take to get set up. For more information on connecting your Versa to Wi-Fi, check out this article.

If you run into trouble updating your Versa, please follow these steps:

  1. Restart the watch.
  2. "Remove" the watch from your account inside of the Fitbit app.
  3. "Forget" the watch from your phone's Bluetooth settings (along with any other Fitbit devices paired to your phone)
  4. Try the update again.

*If anyone isn't seeing the TODAY app after updating, please try the following:

1. Make sure you're running the newest version of the Fitbit app (version 2.84)

2. Connect to Wi-Fi in the Fitbit app, plug your Versa into the charger and let it sit. This will automatically update the Today app.

Looking forward to hearing everyone's feedback on the latest release. If you have questions, please let me know in this thread!

I find your comment about most don't have problems with the Versa laughable at best.  This site and others are full of dissatisfied customers.  As for your Syncing comment it does not sync properly manually or automatically even if the versa is left setting next to the phone.  Explain why even setting up the WiFi is difficult and doesn't accept the password along with taking forever to find the WiFi.  Having to put a password in time after time and seeing the Bluetooth has stopped Notification is not normal.  I have factory reset the watch at a minimum of 6 times and also removed the App from the phone along with its Cache and Data files the same amount of times.  Nothing gets this Versa to function in any reliable way.  I've even assigned the watches MAC Address a static IP Address in my Cisco business router.  Sitting under the WiFi Access Point with the phone and Versa next to each other accomplished nothing.  If trying 6 or more times just as if it came from the factory doesn't correct the problem what will?

Honestly, I think they'll never fix this . I replaced my 3+ yr old bluetooth 4.0 phone with a new Samsung S9 and it works perfectly with Fitbit now.

I updated my Versa the other day and my heart rate monitor has been reading extremely high (150 BPM-175 BPM) while I'm RESTING! Now it quit reading my heart rate altogether and there are no green lights flashing on the backside of my Versa. Also, my battery is draining over 50% in a single day. What is going on? I've tried troubleshooting on my own along with restarting the Versa several times with no luck. Any help would be appreciated greatly.

Watch stopped working either during or after the update.  The screen will not come on by touching it or using the buttons so I cannot do the standard 2 button reboot.  When I put the watch in  the charger, it always reboots (diamond logo) but then will come on and the touchscreen works.  As soon as I remove from the charger, the screen goes blank and the watch stops working.   Battery is registering at 100% both in the phone app and on the watch screen (while in charger).  I have tried:
- standard Fitbit clock face installed
- unpairing and repairing with the Fitbit app on phone - this prompted an upgrade to start again (which took forever)
- did a factory reset from the watch while in the charging cradle - had to go through the whole setup again to avail

I have been trying to update my Fitbit versa to the new firmware since late December 2018 but it always say "firmware update failed" and my watch always go back to just showing logo and start download instructions. I have used both Wifi and Bluetooth and got the same message. Used home and office wifi also but also got the same failed update firmware. Been trying to update it for days now since the update was released and I getting frustrated now. I have tried manually resetting it, deleted my device from my phone then set it up again and all but still won't update. It was working fine before I was asked to update to the new firmware. Should I return it now?

I applied the upgrade just before Xmas - or should I say attempted to apply.  I thought it was ok, but in a couple of hours noticed that the time started to get slower (about 5 minutes per hour).  I realised at this point it wasn't syncing any more.

Since then I've made numerous attempts to get it going - done factory resets, reinstalled the app etc.

When trying to reset the Versa the app might recognise it via Bluetooth once every dozen attempts and on those it rarely showed the four digit code.

Even if it gets to this stage it won't get any further, so it is going back for a replacement.

It's a shame, as I've had it since May and have had no problems up until this point.

@SunsetRunner"I find your comment about most don't have problems with the Versa laughable at best.  This site and others are full of dissatisfied customers." --- Exactly: you won't see the millions of happy customers here of course! This site is to help those in need. Think about it! 🙂 "Explain why even setting up the WiFi is difficult" -- It is not difficult, just reading the rest of your email shows how much an incredible mess you made of the setup that isn't necessary. It is laughable at best. If you really want help, you can reach out again. Otherwise good luck!

@SunsetRunnerGood it is working now at least

@lenny4d  the fact is that if there are that many unhappy customers here, there are probably more that don't post here.  This is my 2nd Fitbit since the Monday after Thanksgiving.  The initial problem was that it wouldn't stay connected to Bluetooth/Wifi and they replaced it.  Now the battery is draining so fast that I literally have to charge it every day... there are just way too many issues, and customer service is lacking.  For example, I got told to sync my versa 6 times (deliberately causing the battery to drain even faster, if that were even possible).  I charged to 100% yesterday and by 1:00 am this morning it was dead... this piece of equipment has some serious issues.

@AlejandraFitbit  Thanks, but for me this is not helpful.  I use the standard clockface, generally don't have to be reminded to move due to my job, have turned off bluetooth and all day sync, have no alarms set, don't use any of the apps on the fitbit, and still I have to charge my fitbit daily.  I charged my fitbit to 100% yesterday and it was dead by 1:00 am.  I don't check my steps often or the time.  I wish I had just upgraded to the Alta HR instead of this one, because it's been disappointing to say the least.

Hi @sandracvrt I feel with you: I know it should work no matter what and totally seamless to the user. Plug and play! I can guarantee that it is like that for the majority by far, but there is 1% (which is >> than # of ppl on these community boards) or so that has struggles. The reasons are not easy to pinpoint.  Yes, quite some ppl have reported the battery drain problem after the most recent firmware upgrade (OS3). Only God knows why this happens, for me and almost everyone else battery life has improved (consistent with the changes in OS2 & OS3). You need to get (yet) another replacement. But they will replace it with one that works. And it is a great tracker/'smartwatch' when it works!

@dekkal  -- not sure what you mean, but it sounds like you are talking about an upgrade of the firmware? Normally this goes via wifi and quite fast (well, still 30mins or so?). If it is going via bluetooth it can take 'forever'. Did you put the Versa in the charging block? That should normally ensure that it goes via wifi... You need power anyway 🙂

I just want to know if I can get out of this safely before it is done. I
could care less about an upgrade at this point.

@dekkal Sorry, remind me where you're stuck... What does Versa display? What about Fitbit mobile app? You need a strong wifi and both devices (your tracker and the phone) need to be very close to the router. You can always restart the process on the stronger wifi network if yours is poor.

Did a reset earlier in the week due to battery draining. I set the Versa up as new and it updated to firmware 33.1.30 and has been flawless since. 4 days and still at 55% battery.

Now that I know of battery drain issues, have no intention of updating. That has not been a problem and I don't want to start one up. Anything I have read about pluses with the update simply aren't worth it. My Versa has functioned well enough. No sense risking it.

That is a good fortune 😙😊

After update, my heartbeat is way out of line. This irni g it us145 while doing aquacize. . Usually it is around 110. Unrealistic since I can speak easily and not out of breath at all.

Do not tempt faith. Just pass this update and be grateful. Worst if your Versa decided to play dead

I downloaded the update two days ago, and have experienced an issue related to the clock face. When I first purchased the Fitbit in July 2018, I also purchased a clock face (which showed the weather in full color) which I've really enjoyed. But after the firmware update, I was informed I would need to download a clockface.

I downloaded one from the Fitbit collection (it's something silly with a "pet cat," Luna, but it doesn't show me all the data I really need, like steps and heartrate, and I can't figure out exactly how to use it ... I will download something else, but almost everything Fitbit has is analog faces and I want to stay digital), but I'd really like to get my old (purchased) clock face back, and have no idea how. Any advice?
