Fitbit Update: 9/16
Hi everyone,
We’re excited to announce the release of Fitbit OS 4.0.1, available for Versa and Versa Lite
(Firmware Version: 68.9.12).
We've begun releasing this new firmware to customers. This is a progressive rollout which means everyone will receive it at different stages until it has been completely released to all users. We roll out releases in phases as a cautionary measure so that we can monitor performance closely and make adjustments if needed.
*Firmware releases are not distributed based on region or location and can reach anyone no matter where you reside. We do not recommend performing a factory reset to force the update to your device as your data will be lost and you may not get the update. Please be patient and wait until you see the update banner inside of the Fitbit app to begin the firmware download.
WHAT’S NEW AND FIXED
This release includes bug fixes and improvements.
HOW DO I UPDATE?
Step by step instructions for updating your Versa can be found here.
To update Versa Lite Edition, leave on all-day sync and let the Fitbit app run in the background on your phone. When the update is ready, you’ll see a notification in the Fitbit app.
If you run into any trouble updating your Versa or Versa Lite, I recommend reviewing these troubleshooting tips.
We appreciate your patience while we work to roll this out to everyone.

I have iPhone as well. You need to delete the app from your phone and re-install. And then "Remove this Versa" from your Fitbit app on your phone, and then re-connect to your Versa. Worked for me 🙂

Aside from the overall Sync issues, here is a list of items that I consider not working properly, features that have been changed for no clear reason (compared to OS3) and UI choices that I find confusing:

Features:
Watch UI:

Dont know if this is your issue or not, but I ran into it after an upgrade of the android app: go into settings/notifications/app notifications, find the fitbit app, and make sure notifications are turned on. ?Dont know what update turned them off...2 different phones, different behaviors. I'm not sure it was the fitbit app update.

I didn’t know about this setting on my Fitbit Versa, so my notifications now work.... now if my Leaderboard would just load!
The Versa is authorized to receive notifications from your phone. To check this, press and hold the left button on your device for 2 seconds and make sure that the notifications are set to "On".

We are all a little broken. But the last time I checked, broken crayons still colour the same.

After doing quite literally everything suggested, i finally got it to work by simply pushing the trash can icon (deleting the versa from my fitbit account) and readding it. Notifications now work.

I have done everything suggested, including hitting the trashcan. All at least twice, if not three times.
I think it's time to get busy getting my money back. I've had my Versa about a month.
I will likely never own another Fitbit. Ever.

Same.
I was considering upgrading to the Versa2 but if they can’t fix this issue soon I’m just going to get an older version of the Apple Watch that’s on sale everywhere right now.

OK finally. I figured it out.. After deleting my app, my versa then restalling them to trying every other idea out there.
IOS
Go to notifications
Go to Messages
Go to show preview
Either choose always or when unlocked.
And you also have to have Lock screen, notification center and banners checked.
As soon as i changed the preview message part, my versa started getting my messages on it again!!!!!

So how much longer am I going to have to wait to get the firmware update on my Versa? It's been almost 10 days now, this is worse than waiting for a system update on an Android device...

This update ruined battery life for me. I went from needing to charge every 2 to 3 days to having to charge daily - even on days when I don't work out.

I don't think it's the Fitbit app.
I think it's the update to the Fitbit.
Although it doesn't really matter, as it doesn't work. I will be returning mine.
