Fitbit Versa 2 issues

This is my first Fitbit, and I'm regretting purchasing this product. It worked good for about three days. I started to notice steps when I wasn't moving or sleeping. So, I switched it to my non dominant hand. I just got 33 steps while laying in bed. Now my notifications stopped working. Then the heart monitor stopped reading. I reformatted this this three times. It works good for a few. Then it goes back to acting up. I searched this site and tried everything suggested. Did I just get scammed by a company?  I can sure tell you this. I will never buy a Fitbit again.

I called support. Very nice and respectable. Unfortunately, they did not tell me anything different then what I have already done. I did 100 steps and it counted 120 the first time and 153 the second time. I reformatted three times already before I called. They wanted me to do it again. After the fourth reformat. It was 108. They explained that it will be 10 steps more or less. That is totally reasonable. I have a case number now. I'm successfully losing weight. I have gone from 355 to 293. I enjoy having the Fitbit Versa 2 by my side. I hope it doesn't do any more ghost steps...

@Big_Josh  you're doing well on your road to weight loss. Way to go! As for those ghost steps, many musicians and knitters find the steps add up without walking. When I push a grocery cart, I register no steps, unless I push one handed, which is hard with some of the wobbly carts in the store. The main thing is you've taken action to fix this and will be keeping an eye on it. Keep on stepping and dropping the weight!

I can understand a few steps being off. I just got out of bed. Walked down stairs to my bathroom. It counted 139 steps. It's only 35 steps... I expected this to be a bit more accurate then a phone.

Also now the app saying my battery is full and I'm at 82% on my watch...

Oh good... Went for a drive to go weight myself at my wife's work. Now it says I did 749 steps. I can't keep this watch. I'm going to try to get it replaced. If that watch does this too. I'm finished with Fitbit. I like keeping track of my steps, food and water intake. I don't need this thing adding lies.

Hi @Odyssey13 , thank you for your help and information.

@Big_Josh , a warm welcome to the Community! Thank you for contacting Support and for the information provided.

Please verify in your Online Dashboard (fitbit.com) that the settings for Sleep are set as Normal and not as Sensitive. This will help to avoid the Versa 2 to count steps while you are sleeping.

Please make sure that the Fitbit app on the device you are synchronizing with does not need to be updated.

Factors such as device placement, dominant or non-dominant hand and step length influence the number of steps recorded.

If it still looks like your device is counting too many steps, please try a step test:

I recommend that you run the following test to check that your Versa 2 counts your steps correctly and calculates the distance correctly. Please note the following before taking the test.

- Walk at a normal pace
- Don't hold anything in your hands
- Let your arms hang on the sides and swing them naturally when you walk
- Count 1 step for each foot touching the ground
- To avoid an extra step when you bring your feet together after you have reached 100 steps:
1. Stop in a split stance.
2. Carefully move your hand up to check the number of steps on the device.

Here are the steps for the test:

1. Restart your Fitbit device. Instructions can be found at How do I restart my Fitbit device?.
2. Place your device on your wrist and check how many steps are shown on the tracker.
3. Take 100 steps and make sure that one step counts each time one of your feet hits the ground.
4. Stop and check your device to see the number of steps. Write the number of steps you counted and the number of steps the device counted.
5. Run the test two more times and go the 100 steps three times. Each time, write the number of steps you counted and the number of steps the device counted.
6. Add the steps the device has counted for all 3 tests. If the device counts 30 more or 30 less than the 300 steps you took, please let me know.

Sleep track is set to - Normal.

Google Pixel 3a XL - App is up to date

I originally had it on my dominant hand. Now it's on my nondominant hand. Nothing had changed.

I have done the step test with support. I did 100 steps. It gave me 128 the first time and 158 the second time.

I walked to the bathroom. It counted 174 steps. The bathroom It's literally 8 steps away from my bed. After two walks to the bathroom, I'm at 221 steps. I have reformatted this watch four times if you read any of my posts.  This watch is defective or Fitbit is just not properly updating its firmware. Whatever the case is. I'm probably not going to buy this product anymore. It's simply just not reliable.

EDIT:
*You should really offer an option to remove steps.*
Reformatting for the fifth time. I'm really trying to give this product a fair chance.

"After checking our system, we found that its last sync time was today, also we can not see any factory reset records."

I did four on my own, and one while on the phone with support. Everything in that email I already did with support on the phone. My last straw will be returning it for a different one. If that one has the same problem. I will try a different company.

I'm getting fed up with this garbage. Now while I was walking my first mile. The watch decided to stop recording my walk... I'm done. To many problems. Support only pulls you in a circle telling you the same thing over and over. Fitbit is not for me. This unreliable dollar store watch belongs in the trash. I'm getting a refund. I will never support this company again.
