Fitbit Versa connected GPS issues

Hi There!

My versa loses connection with my phone (nexus 5x) during bike excercise and thus shows no route on the map. I know I have gps, because Strava app shows it right.

Is this a bug in the software from the Versa?

I tried to start an excercise from fitbit app, but only walk, run or hike does gps. (no bike. why not?!?) so i choose hike.  now i have a hike excercise with hr and ps data. this this excercise shows after sync with strava in strava as hike. in strava i change hike in bike.

now i have bike excercise in strava with hr and gps. after a while just from magic, the ecercise in strava has been changed back into hike again with no hr data anymore.

I know that fitbit versa is not a swiss watch, but at least it should be working as advertised!

connected gps is not not working. People at Fitbit, can you fix this?

One thing that really fixed mine was the touch the gear under walk, my blue tooth was turned off.  That must be a new option with the update I think.  🙂

Hey guys, @dave_in_ni, @SunsetRunner, @hilehoffer@Frank75 and @SunsetRunner, I appreciate your responses. I'd like you to try the following:

- Make sure that you have the latest version of the Fitbit app installed on your phone

- Make sure that you have the latest operation system on your phone

- If you are using an Android device, please make sure that the Fitbit app is running in the background, as @Marrrmaduke said.

If the GPS on your Versa is working fine, I will appreciate the update.

Have a nice day!

I have lost count of the number of times we have been. Asked to "try this"!
It never works. It shouldn't be too hard for the Fitbit sole engineer to
replicate our problems, the old version of the App used to work - look at
what's changed? Fitbit DO something instead of asking your paying CUSTOMERS
to sort it out!

Thank you for not following my request and asking us to again do something that has been asked of us to do countless times before in this thread, last time by you on 19th January. Smiley Frustrated

Has this issue ever been fixed? I am still running an old version of the app, scared to update it.

Not for me. It still only counts about 75% of my actual steps. I no longer
compete in challenges. 😞

That depends on what your looking for. At the end of my bike ride, Strava
shows me my route and my milage right on the numbers.

What I am looking for is the distance I am traveling as I ride. I am
getting numbers, but their off a half to a number of miles. I did get it
right one day, but only one day. LOL, I'm trying to get back to that, so
I'm keeping a record of each ride and the settings for that ride.

@SunsetRunner Drops drops drops. With Fitbit app version 2.74.2 it works on Pixels, just got a confirmation from another poster.

@Frank75 Roll back the fitbit mobile app version (if you're on android that is - sorry can't recall) to 2.74.2. Don't give up.

agree with you 100%

Only things thats improved with later software versions is the notifications on the phone

I am taking nothing for granted but since fitbit app update from 21st February, connected GPS has been stable.... Thank you Fitbit if you did something proactive for this issue though it would have been nice to be notified.

Well, it's working, but its off 1/2 mile for every 10 miles. Ergo, if i ride 20 miles, Versa is off 1 mile. It's not accurate,  at least it's counting. Frank Rizzo Sent from my Verizon, Samsung Galaxy Tablet

I regressed back to 2.88 and found the running and walking connected GPS to be stable.

I am stable with 32., but when biking, I lose 1/2 a mile in 10 miles. A kinda small thing, but it bugs the hell out of me.Sent from my Verizon, Samsung Galaxy smartphone

Odd. Mine is fully accurate. I do a regular cycle which I know the distance of and it ties in with my endomondo tracking that I use as a backup measure. Wow! After so many issues, I'm delighted.

@Frank75 Hi Frank, sorry. I don't have any special settings. Latest version of app and fitbit OS3.0 I don't have all day sync turned on just always connected turned on for notifications. I don't do anything funny like pinning the fitbit app and I even have endomondo running as well to make sure I record my cycle in case fitbit decides to play up. My last 4 cycles over the last 10 days or so have all recorded as expected directly in the fitbit app. Yippee!!! Finally...

What worked for me, to get connectivity...  wait a while and Fitbit supports my new phone.  When I bought the versa my phone was brand new and not supported yet.  It all works fine now

I am glad to hear that some folks are getting better results. Unfortunately mine doesn't seem to work. I have the latest software and firmware installed. I just went for a four mile walk and the GPS only recorded the first couple hundred feet.

My only advice is to keep changing your settings until it works. Perhaps, some day, Fitbit will make things better.Sent from my Verizon, Samsung Galaxy smartphone

Mine just still only counts about 80% of my steps. Doesnt seem to be a GPS
issue just doesnt count steps as good as my ONE did.

@RonS16 I think it is still pretty unreliable.  Mine worked for the first 10 minutes of a walk today then reverted back to 'connecting....'.  The total distance recorded was significantly less that I actually walked (it's a route I do frequently).  I think we have to accept that the product just doesn't do what the manufacturer claims.  I had planned to use it for cycling but have given up and now just rely on Strava.
