Fitbit Versa connected GPS issues

Hi There!

My versa loses connection with my phone (nexus 5x) during bike excercise and thus shows no route on the map. I know I have gps, because Strava app shows it right.

Is this a bug in the software from the Versa?

I tried to start an excercise from fitbit app, but only walk, run or hike does gps. (no bike. why not?!?) so i choose hike.  now i have a hike excercise with hr and ps data. this this excercise shows after sync with strava in strava as hike. in strava i change hike in bike.

now i have bike excercise in strava with hr and gps. after a while just from magic, the ecercise in strava has been changed back into hike again with no hr data anymore.

I know that fitbit versa is not a swiss watch, but at least it should be working as advertised!

connected gps is not not working. People at Fitbit, can you fix this?

Another person struggling with Connected GPS as well. 😞 It'll connect at the start of a walk but the Versa really struggles to stay connected. My phone has alternated between saying connected GPS is running on the persistent notification and not. It's really struggling with the Versa bluetooth connection. It works with other bluetooth devices and has worked in the past. It's pretty frustrating as I do enjoy the Fitbit platform...however my sister is on Garmin and on Strava her stats look excellent! Whereas my maps are not accurate, often only showing a portion of my walk. I have all the permissions and everything enabled, and the Versa still says "connecting..." for most of the walk. 😕

I use map my ride, it always works. I ride bicycle as well as walk or jog. I have decided to stop using my Versa for GPS because it is so unreliable. One day it finds the route, the next it doesn’t and it can be the exact same route that it found immediately the previous night. I have had too many times that I thought my route connected when in fact it was “connecting “ and I end up with nothing!

Agreed. I now use strava for my rides. The gps and metrics far outweigh the versa. The watch is merely a hr monitor.

what sucks for me.. is that my GPS mapping has always worked in an acceptable way..

about 1 1/2 week ago.. there was an update of fitbit apps and since then.. it only goes Connected

I uninstalled the app and i re-install to no avail..

last week though.. it was working and when i was running.. the versa decide to stop everything and dump my run.. so i had no date and i have not been able to make it work since

I think today. .i am going to do a reset on the versa and see if that works..

At this point.. with all the issues.. with the connected GPS and sleep tracking. .i see no reason why i should not just throw that piece of garbage in the trash and move to another company..

i was going to buy a versa for my wife for the water proof designed as we own a pool...
I dont think i will ever buy another versa product.. all i have since i bought that versa is trouble

i spend so much time.. researching what to do.. on a watch that should be working..
I am told to edit the sleep manually. .i am told to use another app to map my run.

What is the point of having a versa if you cant use it for what it is designed for..

I and mine 5 weeks and it never connected properly. A number of online communications with fitbit whose response was it's over 35 days and not refundable. Took it back to John Lewis. No issues and full refund. Now have a Garmin vivoactive 3 with full GPS. fitbit have a major issue with the versa and won't admit it

I use strava now for my cycling gps and metrics. The versa is only the hr monitor. If it does any data collection or gps it’s a bonus. The music connection to Deezer works good and other apps ok. I got the watch at a good price so if I paid Apple prices I’d be pissed big time. Ask for a refund if you really don’t want it.

This software is such poor quality. A couple of weeks ago the app was eating up nearly 50% of my battery. The connected GPS still doesn't work. And now when I make changes to the settings in the exercise watch app, my changes are reversed when I sync next. Doesn't anyone actually check the feckin app before they release it?!?!?

have anybody tested this first solution? https://www.pocket-lint.com/fitness-trackers/reviews/fitbit/143921-fitbit-versa-review-fitness-watch...

remove all bt and then add versa again. i'm testing it but i understand it will be not bulletproof solution forever....

Same here.  Mine worked pretty well until a few weeks ago.  Now shows connecting, sometimes never connects and other times halfway thru my ride, it connects.  No consistency.  Very disappointed.  What is the latest versa update?

yesterday i test what i posted before. remove all bluetooth connection from phone and then remove fitbit versa under fitbit account in phone, then add fitbit into fitbit account in phone, load music into versa and connect jbl bt headphones into fitbit. gps connection was fine but i notice that when both headphones in ear music was intermittent, when one flap was near versa, then this problem was gone.

right now i guess like versa bluetooth is not very good. it can't handle gps and music same time from phone, when i connect versa and headphones directly then over bluetooth sound is intermittent when using both flap in ear but gps works fine.

but overall this is not create solution and like i understand probably after some time use i must do it again. remove all bluetooth connections from phone etc...

is there any fitbit versa os and firmware update coming to fix all problems? or have fitbit some create solution to connect versa and bt headphones into one phone same time without any problem?

Wow..

we can say that the versa is now crap and to use word of mouth

I keep getting deleted..

that is pretty Amazing.. i am fairly sure they will delete this one too

but if you read that first. I am calling the newsmedia to tell them how badly treated we are.. and the subpar product that fitbit has put out

The right thing to do is a recall. It's ethically important to your customers that purchased your product on what they believe they were purchasing. Covering up will kill this brand..It's 10X the effort to gain customer back once they have left...Few organizations ever make it back.

i totally agree with you.. a recall is the only way until they fix their

I totally agree. I left because of how awful the Versa was, and I can't say if I'll ever be back to Fitbit because I really love my Garmin that I switched to.
