Fitbit Versa switches off when fully charged

My watch died last night while I slept. It was on approx 44% before I went to bed. I put it on to charge today and left it until I got back from work.

at 100% I put it back on. It died moments later having not tracked any steps.

After putting it on charge it comes back to life only to do the same thing moments later. I have repeated this five times this evening including turning off the watch a number of times. 

 

Anyideas?
