Fitbit Versa water damage and stopped tracking heart rate

I put my versa into swim mode the other day as I was doing a swimming workout. I dried it off when I got home as I usually do and charged it. I have been wearing it for 2 days since and just noticed it has not taken my heart rate for the past two days at all. I reset it as this usually helps and now it has a streak down the side and the whole display is faded and water logged. I thought this was waterproof .. I'm confused.
