Fragile Versa

Just putting this out there....anyone had similar experiences with the Versa?

From my earlier post removed...

Cracked screen from the most insignificant of knocks....less than 60 days old....

Can't be repaired! Only option is to buy a new one.

This really is not acceptable that a device worn on the wrist cannot even sustain the lightest of knocks.

Anyone else in the same situation?

What does this mean??? Cracked screen from the most insignificant of knocks.

So it has been knocked?

Yes it only took a slight knock on the side of a desk to shatter the glass.

The quality of glass seems unacceptably fragile!

And support tell me it can't be repaired!

I find it hard to accept that there's nothing that can be done to fix it.

I'm thinking for something worn on the wrist, costing over $250, it should be designed to withstand reasonable contact with hard surfaces without sustaining damage beyond repair.

Mine has taken a couple "knocks" and is fine. I almost didn't try the versa due to the complaining on the forum about screen cracking. I also still have an over 3 year old Blaze with a perfect screen. Although there have been claims the screen cracks while sleeping or being dropped 2 feet onto a pillow. 😂

It has a touch screen. I respected that from day one with the Blaze, It can't handle hits like a Timex because it has a touch screen. Understand that and respect the product.

Ok mate, yeh sure, respect the touchscreen....something the manufacturer should understand and acknowledge it's fragility and perhaps offer a repair or exchange.

And given the only option they give you is to buy a new one really stinks of extortion.

It's a shame that future generation will probably never have the pleasure of owning a quality product made to last.

How is this a reasonable situation to find yourself in as a consumer?

They offer a damage protection warranty at purchase. I took my chances without the extra warranty since my Blaze is still fine, I didn't feel a 1" touch screen would be able to take hard contact from the beginning 3 years ago and always tried to be careful. I lift weights or bicycle outdoors or both nearly every day, and from my standpoint, a fitness watch doesn't require withstanding hard impact. Sorry yours is broke. I'm sure I wouldn't be happy if mine broke either. But I knew up front accidental damage is not covered by the standard warranty and the watch cannot be fixed. I chose to take my chances and be careful.

Good luck.

The issue is that under Australian consumer Law, a manufacturer must provide some kind of repair service, and make available spare parts for its products for a period of time.

For a item that retails at $250, you could reasonably expect that in the event of damage, either a repair service, or at very least spare parts be available for purchase.

Hi, sorry to read your unfortunate accident that crushed your screen. But to be honest, I bumped also several times with my Versa against something without cracking the screen. Maybe you just hit a very vulnerable part of the screen whilst bumping or the bumping was more severe than you experienced/thought. All in all, screens cannot be repaired by Fitbit, only a replacement is the solution for your problem. Contact CustomerSupport again, preferable by calling them, explain the situation and maybe you come to an acceptable solution for your problem. Press the link and on top of the screen you will see Just give it a try, good luck!!
