I received the Fitbit for Christmas but lately I’ve noticed it’s off on tracking my stair counts and exercise. It will say I’ve climbed 5 sets of stairs when i hadn’t climbed any and at the gym when i use the treadmill app on the treadmill the app will say I’ve only done like .52 miles when the treadmill shows almost 2 miles

@Dancrchik32  With respect to your extra floor counting, your Versa uses a relative altimeter to estimate elevation change and count floors.  I often get extra floors opening doors just the right way, especially the fire doors at my office building.  Gusty, windy days and leaky buildings can give extra floors, too.  I once got 28 floors on a windy day.

Your Versa isn't malfunctioning counting floors.  All these devices have some error.

I am not a treadmill user, so I'm not sure I have a solution for you.  It is important that you don't hold the handrail.  Wrist worn trackers need some wrist movement to measure steps.  Also, a question.  How many steps did your Versa record with that treadmill?  A good ballpark is 2000 steps per mile.  If you got about 4000 steps, then the engineers need to work on this.

@Dancrchik32 that's typical behaviour of the tracker. Treadmills and any other machines have always been tricky as they do not offer the same surface as the ground. More over if you hold the side bars it inevitably impacts the reading. If the speed changes, your stride length changes too. What you can do is you can count steps while running a certain distance (measured by the machine), calculate your running stride length and input it into your Account details for Fitbit to use.

Regarding floors, again normal. If you walk on the street and you keep ascending Fitbit will count floors each time you reach certain difference in the altitude (corresponding to one floor).

So even though I’m not really going up or down hills it’s still going to count as going up stair?
