How do I edit my exercise?

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Fitbit, can we please have a manual way to edit running distance? With connected GPS being off by miles and that then messing up what my automatic stride length for treadmill running (making a 3 mi run in to a 0.86 mi run!), all of my running exercises are way off.

This is also throwing off my cardio health measure because it looks like my heart rate is super high for a shorter than mile run. Anyone got a fix suggestion for this? The Versa is very slowly starting to become kinda useless.

There is no pen icon

I just installed the Fitbit app from the Microsoft Store on Windows 10, and I was able to use that to edit my walk. I had started tracking my walk by tapping my Charge 2 and then holding the button, and I had forgotten to hold the button to end the tracking at the end of my walk.

In the Fitbit app on Windows, I went to Dashboard > Exercise Goal > (clicked my mis-tracked exercise) > Edit (in the top right), and there I was able to adjust the end time (and other things). It seemed to update the statistics somewhat intelligently.

I can't do this in the website, nor in the Android app. If the Fitbit engineering team has already figured out the functionality and algorithms for the Windows app, then it really should be pretty simple to port over to at least the website.

Edit: Here is the relevant request in the feature selection board: https://community.fitbit.com/t5/Feature-Suggestions/Ability-To-Edit-Manually-Logged-Exercise-Type/id...

Fitbit's response is that they will not do it, and they do not want to hear people ask for it anymore.

Yep.  Still not fixed.  Not good enough.

I stopped using my Fitbit. Too many glitches. I'm currently living without a tracker, like in the olden days, and am perfectly happy -- in fact, happier.

I'm using Blaze and logged a walk by accident instead of treadmill. After one hour run my fitbit shows the steps, but only 2.5 km (the gps jitter). I don't want to lose my heart rate data, so I can't just input another excercise. I can't see a pen, only three dots and the option for deletion or csv-export.

You can't edit distance on the PC.  So you forget to unpause, you're stuck.  You can edit time, duration and a few other items.

I'd like to change my "walk" to "treadmill". Is that possible?

You can change type of exercise.  On the PC version.fitbit.jpg

How is this still a thing? It sounds to me like it's a pretty basic feature to be able to edit activities. What does it matter that it was recorded manually?

In my case I forgot to stop my activity so I just want to say "no, I wasn't weightlifting for 2.5h, just 1h", which seems pretty straightforward and like it should work like any other editing. Having to delete and manually enter it again is silly and inconvenient, and it loses all the heart rate data (it doesn't because you put the time range for the activity and it takes it from logs).

If you need to edit, just sync your fitbit to another app that does let you easily extend / delete part of your route, as well as all the metrics behind it - date, length, distance etc. Both Runkeeper and Strava let you do it quite easily.

Thank you!

This works for me, but underlines how dumb Fitbit's own edit features are.

Is it not a bit absurd that this option is not available on Android? As with many issues reported here there is simply no adequate answer from Fitbit, other than referring to incorrect instructions (no, there is no pencil on Android, so don't tell us there is) or advising to vote for a feature without us getting feedback and which should be there in the first place.
My Ionic lost GPS connection during my run, then went completely blank - keeping my distance locked at shutdown time, and ending my exercise when I got home and could restart it, resulting in absurd data. And there's no way to correct it. Brilliant.

No Pencil icon appears.  Only "Delete" and "Export TCX file" options, no Pencil icon or Edit feature for Versa 2.

My Versa lite lost connection on a hike today. Fitbit finished it as 7.5 miles. The two others I was with, both were at 9.28 miles. I have no pencil to edit the distance, either. So I lost mileage and step count. 😖

So I assume that even though this is an old post this is still the state of things today.

a) I can edit activities that automatically were detected by fitibit ....

b) any activity with GPS I started via my Versa does not allow editing/trimming

Whats the dealio?

You're correct, this thread is more of a support group at this point. Glad you could join us!

As the instigator of this thread, let me say I cannot edit exercise that is automatically recognized. In particular, I can't edit swims. I swim a leisurely 1200 yards and fitbit has me swimming the English Channel in less than a half hour. I'm serious. You should see what this does to my calorie count. Since I swim almost every day that means that I can't use the fitbit to balance my food intake with energy expenditure on top of having totally invalid swim records. I tried turning off auto-recognize swimming, and the darn thing keeps doing it anyway!

You may be able to edit some auto-recognized exercises, but on the Android you cannot edit swims.

Regarding editing on the PC app

Not true, at least not for swimming

I make the necessary change in the table and hit the check mark.

It reverts to the incorrect value.

BTW, you can't edit swims from the dashboard on line, nor can you edit them from the PC app. They simply cannot be edited, and the recognition algorithm sucks.

I am having the same issue - I keep forgetting to stop my exercise sessions so my log has crazy data like 518 minutes of yoga and a 6 hour walk. I try to edit on my Android phone but there is no longer a pencil to click on, allowing edits. I have the option of deleting exercise, however. Please advise!

Did you ever get this resolved?  Although it's about 2 years later, lol.  So frustrated as I did the same thing as you did - forgot to end my exercise and not it looks like I worked out much longer than I actually did.
