How do I use Fitbit Pay in Australia

Hi. I just got a Versa 2 and have set up Fitbit Pay.

I work a retail job so I am around NFC enabled EFTPOS terminals all workday. I was wondering when is the Fitbit Pay active on the Versa 2? Is it like some phones where I need to just simply be close to the pin pad and Fitbit Pay will activate or do I have to open the Fitbit Pay app to get it to activate the NFC chip? I just don't want to get charged for a customers order because I'm assisting them to use the EFTPOS terminal.

I should note that I'm in Australia, I noticed the documentation on Fitbit Pay says it works a little different here.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Hello there @DELTAprime84, welcome to the Community Forums. I'm sorry for the late response.

Use Fitbit Pay on transit readers that accept contactless credit or debit card payments, such as Sydney's ferry and light rail networks. For more details, see How do I use Fitbit Pay to pay for transit?

Customers in Australia:

  1. If you have a credit or debit card from an Australian bank, hold your device near the payment terminal to pay. If your card is from a bank outside of Australia, or if you wish to pay with a card that is not your default card, complete steps 1-3 above.
  2. If prompted, enter your 4-digit PIN code.
  3. If the purchase amount exceeds $100 AU, follow the instructions on the payment terminal. If prompted for a PIN code, enter the PIN code for your card (not your device).

If the payment terminal doesn’t recognize Fitbit Pay, make sure the device face is near the reader and that the cashier knows you’re using a contactless payment.

For added security, you must wear your device on your wrist to make payments with Fitbit Pay.
