Is it normal for it to take hours to setup and update Versa?

Regarding your inquiry, it will all depend on the connection between your phone, your Versa and your internet connection. Are you still having issues setting up your Fitbit? If you are, I recommend double checking that you are following the instructions in the How do I set up my Fitbit device? article.

Bought a new versa today in Melbourne. Has taken over 5 hours and it is still "Updating"!!! What a joke!
I restarted my phone and that hasn't helped. Has wasted a lot of my mental energy so far. Really regreting my decision to buy the fibbit.!

I am going on 2 hours and no hopes in setting up this fitbit versa! It's going back! Now I know why my friend said get the apple watch instead!

I'm on hour 12 of attempting to set mine up. By the looks of it I still have another 5 hours to go.

Mine is taking forever also and making me miss my Samsung gear fit 2.

A strong wifi signal helps for a quick set up. It should definitely not take more than an hour.

My first versa wouldn't setup at all. The app would find it, but couldn't connect saying I had Bluetooth issues. Fitbit tech support said it was bad. So I sent it back to Amazon. Got my 2nd one and was having same issues. I tried everything, last thing that worked was installing the Fitbit app on wife's new tablet. Then the setup and download took about 25 minutes.

My new fitbit versa 2 arrived by morning post at 8.30am worked on it for 4 hrs then gave up and another 2 hrs at night WHAT A JOB IF I WASN'T BALD ALREADY ID HAVE PULKED OUT ALL MY HAIR. Very stressful not good when you are in you 70th year . All working now but pheeww tough going .
