How well does the Versa work?

I have had a terrible experience with the Charge 3 which I bought in Nov 2019.  Every few months, it would randomly freak out and die (e.g., start buzzing non stop and switching between faces, unable to restart or charge, did all trouble shooting with customer service).  Through November, Fit Bit would send a replacement, but my latest replacement which I think is about 5 months old just died again yesterday.  Clearly, I will not buy the Charge 3 because it's a pain and very disruptive to replace even when under warranty and free.

I am looking at Garmin and others, but am curious whether people are having the same issues with the Versa - I want something waterproof, with good battery life and effectively tracks heart rate.  Tracking skiing would be nice, but as long as it's effective for general wear plus tracking a normal range of activities (run, circuit training, tennis, golf etc), my main goal is that it actually works.  I definitely don't want to spend $200 (or $100) on a disposable watch that needs to be replaced yearly.

Thanks and please avoid Charge 3 if you actually use it to track activities.  My daughter's (also bough Nov 2019) has been fine, but she rarely presses the button to proactively track exercise, so I suspect there's something faulty with the left side button mechanism that only works with so many "presses"
