Is the Versa comfortable?

I am considering upgrading to either the Versa or the Charge 3. I currently have the Charge 2, and really like it! But I want something that can receive smartphone notifications, and the Versa and Charge 3 seem to do better at that than the Charge 2. (I like that I can receive texts on my C2, but I often can't see the entire text, and wish it didn't immediately disappear. From what I see online, both the Versa and Charge 3 shows the entire text, and you can go back to it until you dismiss it.)

My two main concerns regarding the Versa both have to do with its size - since the screen is so much larger, I am concerned I would accidentally bang my wrist into a doorway or dresser and scratch or break the screen. I know I would need a screen protector, and if I go with the Versa I'm considering one of the all around bumper cases, although I'm wondering if that would look a bit bulky.

Mostly I am concerned with the comfort of the Versa. I am used to always wearing a watch (or my Charge 2), but I'm wondering if it would be uncomfortable, being so big? When you bend your wrist back does the Versa rub against the back of your hand? I wish there was a way of actually trying one on and wearing it for a few minutes before purchasing, to see if it's comfortable.

I think the Charge 3 does everything I'm looking for, so I might end up going that route. But I do like the nicer screen, and the fact that the Versa has apps and more watch faces. It just looks more fun. 🙂

So I guess my question is, how comfortable is the Versa? If anyone has both the Versa and one of the smaller fitbits (alta, charge, or something similar) how does it compare in comfort? Thanks!

I find the Versa very comfortable to wear. But the band might have a lot to do with it as well. I do switch off my bands a lot

But I like all the models and find them all comfortable. So I'm really no help. I also dont bang my arm into things that would damage any model

Go to a store that sells them and look the the difference. I do not think the Versa is that big myself

Thanks, WendyB. When I transitioned from the  Alta to the Charge 2, the Charge seemed pretty big to me, at first. But it didn't take me long to get used to it. I'm assuming it would be the same for the Versa, if I went with it. When I first saw it I thought it was terribly big, but it's starting to grow on me. I still wish it was a little smaller... but I'll have to see. I did see it in the store compared with the charge, and it seems about 1.5 times bigger.

I have had a Versa for less than 2 months. Here are my comments:

SIZE: I can say that most of my watches have been far larger and heavier than the versa, so that is not an issue for me, but I am a man and men's watches tend to be larger and more bulky. My regular watch is a big Casio G-Shock. It probably depends on your arm size. My wife is tiny and definitely would not want to wear my Versa. She has a Charge 2.

COMFORT: I have never been able to stand those metal stretch bands on expensive men's watches, so I have to have a buckle style leather or plastic material band. I purchased my Versa with two bands, a black flexible one that I supposed is some form of plastic, and a grey fancy looking one that looks like a grey cloth pattern. I don't know what that one is made of, it may be a cloth or cloth around plastic. It looks very nice, but the textured pattern is rough on my wrist and I don't like wearing it for very long. The black plastic one I got is fine, but not quiet as soft as my Casio one, and not as comfortable. But after I have had it on a while I get used to it and don't notice it.

GLASS FACE: I have never had much of a problem with wacking my wrist into door frames with any watch, but I do wish they sold a screen protector for the Versa, as it is starting to pick up tiny scratches after only 2 months.

VERSA versus others. I don't know if the other fitbits are having this problem, but it seems a good number of people on the internet and on this forum are reporting problems where the Versa is at 100% after charging, and then dies only a few hours later. When put on a the charger, it says it is at 0%. Mine started doing this a few days ago. I intend to try to contact fitbit tomorrow and see if they can replace it.

Good luck with your choice.

P.S. I forgot to mention that I find it almost impossible to sleep in my Versa to track my sleep, which was one of the reasons I got it. The device itself is not uncomfortable against my wrist, and I was delighted that I don't have to wear it super tight for it to function (I actually feared I wouldn't be able to wear any sort of fitbit, because I have to wear my wrist watches very loose), but I can wear the Versa very loose as well and it seems to function just fine. I think it is the firmness of the wrist band, the black plastic one and the clasp that are uncomfortable. Since it has such a funky pin to hold the bands on, I don't know if there are any aftermarket wrist bands that I can purchase from somewhere else than fitbit that might work or not. I have not had time to look yet, and now I am facing the larger problem of trying to get it to function for more than an hour without shutting down and thinking it has no power!

I find my Versa very very comfortable! The watch face might seem large but it is very well designed as far as shape and thickness goes and fits very comfortably. At night I dont even know I have it on. I prefer a sports band so have had to buy a third party one as there is no sports band in Fitbits extensive range for the Versa.

I have my Versa for a week now and I find it very light. Sometimes I even forget it is on my wrist but I believe that might change from person to person. The screen is larger but I don't think that adds much noticeable weight to it.

I also use a case with it as well. Like, you said I am worried that I might bang it somewhere and often I do but since the case covers all the screen, I don't worry about it getting scratched. It does add a bit bulk to Versa but that does not bother me that much since it is better than getting screen scratched.

Shawn64, thank you for your reply! I'm glad to hear you find the Versa comfortable, but what a shame on battery life! I hope they're able to fix that for you! I'm wondering is it's something with the software, if an update would fix it. That's troubling that so many people have had issues with the battery drain. I wouldn't want to have to charge it every day - a big reason I'm interested in the Versa is the long (comparatively) battery life. I hope they're able to resolve it for you!

NellyG, that's good to know it's comfortable for sleeping! As to it being big, my daughter keeps telling me to just go for it, I'll get used to it. 😊

Thanks Davimee. I just spoke to fitbit customer service and they are going to replace it! 🙂

I forgot to mention, I was at Best Buy tonight and saw another company is now selling a screen protector for fitbit Versa. It is just a thin film that you apply, just like some of the thin films you can apply to your phone screen. The geek squad will install it for about $8 if you don't want to do it yourself, but if you have a yearly geek squad protection plan, they will install it for free. I am going to get that first thing after they send me the replacement. I also found a fitbit brand leather wrist band that I went ahead and purchased. I am hoping it is more comfortable than the plastic and woven fabric ones that I already have. It was pricy, at around $50 I think, but hopefully worth it for comfort. I am hoping it will make the difference and allow me to sleep with it on and track my sleep. Take Care.

@Davimee I got mine from Amazon. I believe more or less all the brands are the same. It covers all of the corners of Versa

I also had a Charge 2 (and loved it) and decided to go for Versa. I find it very comfortable, and the wristband (standard one) is way better. In fact. I had more problems with wearing the charge 2 (esp. getting stuck behind something) than the Versa. That said, I suspect there is more chance of sweat build-up under the large surface area of the Versa vs the Charge 2 & 3, I still have to test this more. This may clog the HB sensor (?).

Although I like the Versa a lot, be aware that as coming from the robust and reliable Charge 2 it is a different game. Syncing is a pain, and the HB sensor seems way off. I always found the Charge 2 spot on. So that I definitively don't like. Still evaluating.

Hi everyone. Thank you so much for sharing your experiences with the Versa as this may help other members who may be interested in acquiring one in the future. If you have pictures of your device you are more than welcome to post them here.

I'll be around!

I just returned a charge 3 because it was very uncomfortable and left a painful indent in my wrist.  I exchanged for the versa because it is flatter and sits better.  Still having comfort issues with the silicone band, but the tracker itself is way better.  I think Fitbit designers need to keep trying.  If you already have a charge 2, I would go with Versa.  Charge 3 is not comfortable at all.

Hi @Davimee. I have a small wrist and arthritis there as well, so I’m fairly clumsy. The Alta HR was always my favorite because of the features and the fact that it was small. But the Versa quickly became my new favorite when it was released. It is a smaller clock face and fits comfortably on my wrist. I’ve not had any issues with scratching. I love the features and the brightness of the screen. Plus switching between the various clock faces is fun! My only concession to comfort was with the band. I found a beautiful, slim, third party leather band that makes the fit all the more comfortable for me.

Thanks! I ended up getting the Charge 3 on black Friday, and I really like it. Although I am still considering looking in to the versa next black Friday. 😊
