I have seen other topics, however, they are more talking about the Ionic. I'd like to see if anyone has actually gone swimming or showered (doubt the latter) with the Versa on and how did it fair?
I can see with the Ionic the states aren't super accurate however I am not too worried about the stats. I am more wondering about the device itself. Any issues or complications with it post swim or during the swim. I have only had mine a couple of days and have yet to get the guts to sink it.

@tesrusch, they advertise water resistant up to 50 meters. Fitbit gives a 1 year warranty. I will take advantage of their warranty and keep using it in water until you get a water resistant one. Don’t let your warranty run out. I purchased mine from Best Buy and purchased the extra year warranty. So if I have any problems I will just keep returning it for a replacement.

6 times a day in the sea, snorkeling, jumping in the pool, being a kids water platform and early morning laps for a month. Generally the back button doesn't work too well for an hour after getting out but when it's dried your all good. Remember 50m resistance means 50m equivalent pressure not 50m down in water! But swimming is fine as the Fitbit specs say

How is it NOT a waterproof watch? I basically bought it because it said it was "swimproof". When you say an item is "swimproof" it means it can be used during swimming. Water is used during swimming. There is no logical option to swim without water. Therefore, you have claimed your product is swim proof which logically means it can be used in water up to a certain depth.
I understand that you can't go diving under 50 meters (or is it that you can't swim more than 50 meters with it? that would be ridiculous by the way). WHAT are you referring to when you say it is NOT a waterproof watch? And also, if it is "swimproof" why do you recommend it be placed in rice for 24-48 hours after someone showers with it? Logically, I would say that showering and swimming are not the same activity but they both involve contact with water that are submersions in water that is no deeper than 50 meters. Therefore, asking this person to put their versa in rice makes little sense. Please revisit your logic and inform back.
It may be time to trot out your legal department to answer this question more completely. You are providing an unsettling contradictory answer. What does "swimproof" imply that "waterproof" does not specifically in Fitbit's universe? Also, is there a difference in water protection between the regular versa and the versa with payment chip? Please give us real answers.
Thanks.

They shouldn't, they should simply replace the devices that die this way

My husband’s also just died after he got stuck in the rain. I was able to get replacement through the warranty with Best Buy. He did the same but they informed him he would not be able to purchase a new extended warranty because they are no longer offering it. They did not give him a reason why but my guess would be too many replacements. He now has the standard manufacture warranty, does anyone know if this covers water damage??

I have used my Versa during swim aerobics using the mode workout - Maybe that is why I had to return it for a replacement. It is suppose to be waterproof. That is why I changed from my Blaze to Versa so that I could use it during my water aerobic exercises. When I get the replacement one I will inquire about waterproof status

I need a difference between water resistant and waterproof. Is it okay to wear the Versa during water aerobic exercise? Of course, I will not be 50 feet deep so and would not wear it in the sauna or hottub?

@missy316, your versa warranty starts the day you purchased it. So the day you got your replacement is the day your 1 year warranty starts. Your versa should be replaced by Fitbit for any problems you encounter. The versa is suppose to be water resistant up to 50 meters. So if your versa fails, I would contact customer support. So far I have been lucky with water resistant. I have been swimming with my versa and it still working. I will have to check with Best Buy to see about their extended warranty policy. I do know that they charge a fee for extended warranty. You should be able to purchase the extended warranty without a limitation.

@Grandma327, your versa is water resistant up to 50 meters. Your should have no problems using it when you are swimming under 50 meters. If your versa fails in water I would contact customer support. You said something about your blaze, the blaze is not water resistant.

@Grandma327, I have used the versa in the hot tub. I went from the swimming pool to the hot tub and back to the swimming pool. So far no problems.

I gave up my Blaze because I knew it was not water proof and I purchased the Versa because I wanted something that I could use to tract my exercise during water aerobics.

Same, I’ve showered with mine on, have gotten it soapy and seldom if ever so I remove it to dry it off afterwards; though I am slightly hesitant to wear it swimming in a pool. I occasionally take a hot shower and have had no issue with any steam or water vapor permeating any of the seals and sensors and no lack of functionality. So I guess the next step would be water immersion in several inches of water.
To date I’ve have used my versa while swimming, no charging issues, no issues at all. I lucked out with one that has good seals; not that one should seek to see how far one could go down. It’s still only rated for 5atm/bar, and 1atm/bar of the five is actually the surface; that said even with a mechanical/automatic watch rated for 5atm I wouldn’t wear one swimming.
If you’re going to wear your versa while you swim, just don’t go down too deep, sadly perhaps not more than 8-10 feet at the most. It’s water resistant, this doesn’t really take into account water pressure which is the enemy of the versa’. Ideally these should have been designed to resist at least 10bar. My few cents on the matter.

@Cayde-6, if you still have your warranty I would swim with it and break the Barrier of being afraid of wearing it in water. Your versa is water resistant up to 50 meters. So if it fails you can get it replaced with out any problems. They advertise the versa has swim proof. So jump in the pool and enjoy the swimming. If it fails contact customer support.
Remember you have 1year warranty from the date of purchase, so go out and swim with your versa. Most of us bought the versa because it is water resistant for swimming, so enjoy the water and if all else fails contact customer support.

I realize it's difficult for you to stray from the "official" line, but could you please explain the difference between "water resistant to 50 meters" and "waterproof?" Is it simply that it doesn't have a standards-based certification? This is extremely confusing to your customers, and I hope it's clear by now that the document you're referring us to doesn't make it any clearer. It's also extremely relevant - I just bought a Versa because my Pebble 2 (which was waterPROOF to 50 meters) became not-so-waterproof when one of the buttons on the side stuck in and I went swimming. I had worn the Pebble scuba diving previously and had no issues - just wondering what to expect from my Versa.
Thanks

@SunsetRunner, say I just checked the specks for the pebble 2, they show it water resistant up to 98 feet. Nothing about water proof. I have checked on regular watches and all of them are water resistant. I’ve seen a lot of comments about the water resistant and waterproof. We just have to face the facts, the versa is water resistant not waterproof.

Right, @Aclobos. But I can swim 50 meters deep in it, that's waterproof enough for me, even if Fitbit won't use the word. 🙂

Hi everyone. The Versa is water resistant, this means that you can swim with your device. It is even designed to detect your swimming sessions after proper configuration. If by any chance you are having issues with your Versa after swimming please first try restarting it by doing the following:
1.- Press and hold the back (left) and bottom buttons until you see the Fitbit logo on the screen. This should take less than 10 seconds.
2.- Let go of the buttons.
3.- If your Fitbit watch doesn't work normally, use the instructions in How do I turn off my Fitbit device? to turn your watch off and on again.
If the issue persist then please let our Support team know about it so they can further assist you.
