Is there any upgrade path for Versa 2 owners to go to a Versa 3?

I get emails from Fitbit regarding “UPGRADE” Versa 2 to Versa 3. However; the price is a purchase price. Is there actually any Upgrade path for Versa 2 owners to go to a Versa 3?

Unfortunately, no, @TBenoit49 . They are using the term to encourage you to purchase a new device. The main difference I’ve seen is that the V3 has built in GPS and a brighter screen.

Be careful with the word "upgrade" as the Versa 3 has been a downgrade for many people coming from a Versa 2:

  • No more ability to load MP3s on the watch
  • No more ability to use connected GPS (can only use on board GPS now, which drains the battery fast)
  • Not clear that the new heart rate sensor is any better than the old one (may be less accurate)
  • Physical button removed, many people complaining about the new "button"
  • New band not that popular

Unless you are a runner and need a watch with built-in GPS, not many reasons to "upgrade"

  • The reason the button was changed is because if the many complaints of the physical button on the Versa 2.
  • Personally, I like many, love this button found on the Versa 3, Sense, Charge 3 & 4
  • As for the GPS, we had many requests for a Versa with built in GPS. Personally I would rather have it drain the tracker than drain the phone battery, but as with the Charge 4 I suspect we will soon get the option of which GPS to use.
  • So far I'm seeing many praises for the new band design on Fitbit and facebook. Some even are saying, finally a band that is comfortable. After a few weeks of use I have to agree.
  • It's True for now that personal mp3's can bit be loaded. We still have pandora, I would think Deezer is coming unless Fitbit lost the rights.
  • Testing disagrees about the heart rate sensor.

What's the essential difference between a versa 2 and versa 3?

You say you can use Pandora, and Deezer? Yep you can, if you have a premium account. I don't have one, and don't want one. Why would I pay to have access to a music library that is limited in the number of bands I actually like? I have music I have bought through the years that I would like to be able to put on my device, and not pay for another subscription fee. One of the reasons I bought a Versa 3 was because I wanted to be able to run with just my watch, and Airpods. I guess $241.45 isn't enough money to do that.

Since I have only purchased my Versa 2 a few months ago, Will Fitbit be providing a method to trade it in for one of the new smart watches just announced??????

Hi @TBenoit49  there is no trade in policy in place by Fitbit. New products are always being announced by various companies. Within a week of buying my new Samsung phone, the newer version of it was released.

Stepping in the U.S.A. since September 2013. Android 14

I have to disagree with you, most people I have be spoken to dislike the band and haven't noticed a difference in heart rate accuracy fro my the 2 to 3

That's true, I've found it to be a downgrade on music and swimming data coming from a 2016 Samsung gear fit 2 pro. Needs some software updates to become worth upgrading. The band is nice though.
