Location access and Bluetooth sharing notification feedback

I understand that there are a lot of neat features if I allow Full Time Location Access to "Always On" BUT I don't want those features.  I don't need them.  I just want to GPS tack my jog or walk during that exercise event.  How do I permanently turn off the very annoying "Location Access & Bluetooth Sharing" reminder message that I receive every time I check the fitbit ap during my jog?  Please help.  The message reads : Location Access & Bluetooth Sharing - Set Allow Location Access to Always to track your exercise with GPS..etc.......

I am having this same issue.  It looks like this has been reported for some time.  RicardoFitbit - your response here was in January.  it is now October.  You state that you are "aware of this issue and working to resolve it as soon as possible."  When will this be resolved?  Every time I open my fitbit app I get this popup and prompt.  I do not want this feature.  When will this be resolved?

I have been a Fitbit user and customer for many years now and have spent a lot of money on the latest equipment. However, this is the final straw for me, service has been going downhill for a while but failing to address this issue is sheer negligence. I will be moving to Apple now. Shame on you Fitbit!

I have that same issue. It is now 2021, when will it be fixed?

If you want all of our data, don't give the option, just turn it on and be done with it.

I am certainly getting very tired of always having to turn this dang notification off every time I access my iPhone ap.  I do not want fitbit or google or any other web ap to track me on a daily basis.  I am also a member of United Healthcare and they give us free access to Fitbit Premium free.  So I did sign up for that but nothing in Premium attracts my attention except maybe the Challenges but only if they could improve them.  I am a solo power walker and none of my friends have a fitbit.  There are no group challenges that I can just join as a stranger.  Too bad.  The "map my walk" ap has this feature.  I use the fitbit ap to augment the "map my walk" ap.  In about a year I will probably upgrade my smartwatch but not sure if I will stay with a fitbit due to the constant subliminal ad type notification and lack of group challenges.

This really isn’t helpful, Ricardo.

This just needs to be taken care of and stop happening. Enough people have complained and are frustrated by it. It’s profoundly annoying.

This feature/bug also drives me crazy. Please advise when it is resolved or at least have the decency to acknowledge that you have no intention of fixing it because its purpose is to annoy us and the posts here confirm it is working properly at irritating and driving away loyal customers.

I found a solution that works for me.  On the iPhone ap I turned off almost all notifications. I then turned off most all the email notifications too.  Then I only bring up the ap once a week to sync it with my Fitbit watch. Maybe the new iPhone OS upgrade will resolve this Fitbit self-serving tracking revenue stream. I don’t see any benefit to us the trapped consumer.

Has anyone noticed that  since Google purchased Fitbit they are now requiring us to have location services always on? They want to track us a so typical Google trait, just purchased an Apple watch and as much as I have come to rely on Fitbit I'm thinking it times to get rid of it

I have not noticed or experienced any requirement to have location services always on since Google purchased fitbit.  I still get the message asking to turn on location services and I just say NO.  In the Fitbit settings I can still select "Never", "Ask", "While Using" or "Always".  I select "Ask" or just "While".  I just wish they would quick asking the same F#@king question about turning on location services every time I access the ap.

yes you can say all the above but that msg shows up every time you access Fitbit so in my way of thinking Google is doing their thing

google will certainly be putting their spin on these devices and apps - that’s for sure but this location services bull crap constant irritating messaging has been in place for a long time.

I have had a fitbit for a good many years now and that irritating tracking msg just came on board, for me at least, a few days ago.

Hi,

so there is still no solution for this most annoying popup? It is so off putting.

I ended up going into the Fitbit settings on my Iphone, shut off every option but Bluetooth and cellular data, location services set to Never. Rebooted the Iphone, went back into settings and toggled the options I wanted. So far holding steady no annoying msg.

I did this, and lo!  the wretched message didn't appear.  Went back into my settings left it all pretty bare, but thought background app refresh might be worth staying with, so I turned only that back on.  Ching!  The message was back.  And the background refresh was off (for some reason?).  I now have *only* Bluetooth and Mobile data checked to 'On'.  And I still get the stinking message every time I go near the Fitbit app.  If I click out of the app momentarily to make a note, and return immediately, I get the message again.  I accepted the auto update because so many of the Fitbit readings seem so flaky, and I imagined some one was busy dealing with bugs somewhere.  I think one of them improved, but plenty remain. I don't suppose there is a way to downdate the app?

A few more efforts reveal that the useless message doesn't appear when I first open the app (after re-starting the phone again).  Then this last time I noticed that Bluetooth had been turned off – at least in Fitbit settings. So I turned it on again.  Restarted etc.  No change.  I now have *only* Bluetooth and Mobile data checked.  My Fitbit is a Charge 4, in case that matters?
