I am using an iPhone with my versa 2. Is there anyway of still having my messages coming up on my phone without them being previewed on my phone? I have tried putting on don’t show previews on my phone in notifications but then the messages don’t come through to my phone.

On an iOS mobile device the operating system will not send notifications to the Fitbit if preview is turned off. Make sure Show Previews is set to Always or When Unlocked. Otherwise your notifications will stop on your Fitbit. So to answer your question it must be on.
