Hey there! I have had the Versa for a few days now. Loving it so far! Execpt for one thing, lol. I have only noticed one issue that seems software related either with the Versa or my phone. I have an Essential Phone PH-1. My issue is that I have been trying to get the music controls working to control my phone playing Spotify, Google music, ect... My phone recognized the Versa right away and would connect to Versa classic, but the Versa would time out and say "no devices found". However it will say it is connected to my phones bluetooth address. When I go to the music controlson the Versa the volume buttons work but there are no skip, play, pause buttons. Just the " start playing music on your phone" message. I have tried alot of troubleshooting. What I could think of and things I found on forums. Tried a factory reset too. Nothing has helped. Any help would be much appreciated. Just kind of annoying that a feature that is supposed to work, doesn't.

I was having this problem too and I realised it was a problem with my phone being connected to my car to play the music. If I disconnected the Bluetooth from my car then did the old switch between phone and watch trick the controls came back. Then I turned on my car's Bluetooth and all is working. It seems to be a bug related to your phone being connected to more than one Bluetooth device at a time

UPDATE: OK its not just that. Its now happening again and there is nothing else connected to my phone. Switching between "watch" and "phone" is no longer working on the fitbit

Hi I'm a Ionic user but having the same problem. this past days I find out that it may be a Bluetooth related issue. My BT headset run out of battery and I decided to use one wired headset that I had at the moment and the music control show up... Later when I used the BT headset it did not show the music control...

so i had a similar problem with my pixel 2xl and what i did was to disconnect my versa classic on the bluetooth menu of my phone and reconnect it and that fix the issue

@Glad-Ice wrote:Thank you all. Now I can control the music volume played on my OnePlus3T. It's far away from perfection but at least I won't have to take my Pebble time as a remote control anymore, I hope...
@Glad-Ice how did you make the controls show up? I am able to pair with Versa classic but when I play anything from my google music nothing happens. No controls at all.
ETA: made it work... The song title doesn't refresh but the rest works...
ETA2: ... Or... Not. Worked once. Sighs...

Can the fitbit team please give us an ETA on the pixel 2/2 XL becoming a supported device?
It's not like the phone is some 4 year old Chinese knockoff, it's THE flagship Android device.

I have been having the same issue. I have a Pixel 2 XL and the music feature is one of the main reasons I bought the device. Honestly thinking about a return at this point. 😞

One thing to note is that you will need to turn off any Bluetooth headsets or audio devices when pairing.
Then you will need to play your music / stop and play again and it will hopefully show up on the watch face. Works with Google music for me.
You can then turn your Bluetooth headset or speakers.

Finally manage to get the Classic connected and found I to had issues with the controls not appearing on the phone.
The workaround has 2 variants;
1. Use a wired headset to the Phone - which Pebble sings their Bluetooth connectivity so why have 2 set of headphones!
2. Start the Music App on the phone first (sound off preferably) and then the bluetooth headset.
Fitbit need to sort this as Pebble never had the same issue, suspect this is to do with it's internal Music/Deezer (internal music) links.

It's absurd that the Pixel 2 is not considered a supported device. It's the flagship phone for Google. Music controls are listed as an advertised feature of the Versa. People bought this thing with the intention of using it as such, only to be told that their brand new, widely used model of phone isn't supported.
Fitbit, fix this. As your customer, you lied to me. I do not appreciate being lied to, and I will never buy another Fitbit product again until you make this right. I will make sure everyone who is in the market for a wearable stays far away from you and your consumer-unfriendly practices.
When I had my Pebble smartwatch, everything just worked. It was so simple. I thought I was upgrading when I bought my Versa, but I have to jump through a ridiculous set of hoops just to make rudimentary music controls work. It wasn't an upgrade going from Pebble to this, it was a massive downgrade. This is beyond absurd, and Fitbit should be ashamed.

Scrap that - this is awful. Got it working once. Now can't work out how to get it back. Which order do I;
Fitbit needs to sort out the removal of the 'Classic' Bluetooth connection - should only really need the standard and simply switch to phone music when watch music is not playing. I definitely use my phone more for music, e.g. commuting and walking rather than the watch music (harder exercise), so why is the watch the 'default' (or of course they could offer a setting for the default).

Hi guys,
The following steps work for me:
1. Turn Bluetooth off in your mobile
2. Long press the back button to go to music control in your versa
A message appears saying no phone is connected
3. Click on the 3 dots ... below
4. Select watch as music source
5. Activate Bluetooth in your phone and connect to the Versa (Classic) device
6. Change music source to phone in your versa
7. Play any music in your phone
8. Click the backwards button in your versa
And there you go: the music controls show up.

Works on my Pixel 2 with Pie (Android 9) as well !!!
Finaly!!!
However Fitbit,
having to manage two Bluetooth connections to enable Music Control can not be the solution!
Please improve this.

after lot of stuggle I found it to be working. please find below steps which i followed.
Versa-> Settings->Bluetooth -> Pair -> Search & Pair Versa classic on Bluetooth widget on phone(to be repeated every time to connect Versa Classic to phone) -> press long left button on Versa- move to music control by swiping left -> press 3 dots area -> In source select clock face & press left button -> press 3 dots area->in source select phone face -> press once again left button-> now you can see music control (if not play some music from the phone to see the music control).
This process is wiered & complected . I urge the Fit-bit team to work on simplifying the process. Autodetect once the Versa Classic is selected on phone bluetooth widget ...

Hi again,
I have discovered a simpler process, building on Srikanta's findings:
1. Turn Bluetooth on in your phone
2. Set music source to watch:
3. Change it back to phone
4. Press the back button
NOW: Switching music source to watch disconnects Versa from phone and switching back to phone re-connects, and the music controls appear when you press the back button
Even if you turn Bluetooth off in your phone and turn it on again, switching music source from watch to phone activates your Bluetooth connection instantly (at least with my Samsung Galaxy S7), and the music controls appear with a click of the back button.
Best regards and enjoy the music!

I wish when the bought out Pebble that they would have implemented the technology on their fitbit devices. My music controller does not work at all. Using LG v30. Recognized by the phone but no device found on the versa device
