My Versa 2 is counting extra steps

I have just received my versa 2 fitbit and the steps have been logging when i was asleep last night. I walked from the bed to the bathroom and over 300 steps were logged from waking up to walking to bathroom. Then walked to bus stop which is 3 mins away and it said i had done over a 1000 steps since! I've read alot of reviews from others saying the same thing, and i have also done a factory reset and it is still logging crazy steps when i have been sat at my desk. Feel really disappointed as feel i now have to send this back.

Any help would be great.

Welcome to the Fitbit Community @SunsetRunner.

Thank you for the information provided and for trying to resolve the issue with your Fitbit Versa 2 before contacting us.

Your watch might record extra steps in different situations. I would recommend visiting this article and open the menu "Why does my Fitbit device count extra steps?".

The dominant wrist setting decreases the sensitivity of step counting and should reduce any over counting of steps when your body is not moving. Your dominant hand is the one you use for writing and eating. You can change this setting if you go to the online Dashboard at fitbit.com > click the gear icon in the upper right corner > Settings > click your watch icon > Wrist. Please make sure to sync after making any change to your Fitbit account.

If necessary, you can negate the extra data by manually adding a driving activity as explained in this site in the menu "How do I delete steps and floors in the Fitbit app?".

See you around.
