New text notification for Androids

Hello,

I have a Samsung Galaxy S7 and everytime I get a text message it just says "New message" instead of the contact's name.  All my other notifications show who is texting me (instagram, snapchat, emails) I have tried everything to try to fix it. I've done a reset on my Versa.  Disabled notifications on the app and restarted it.  I've even taken my Versa off bluetooth (forgot device), restarted my phone, deleted the app all together, factory reset on my Versa everything!  Still having the issue of it saying "NEW message" instead of the actual contact name....

Please help!

Not sure which messaging app or which android OS version, but this sounds like a setting that needs to be changed in the phone .

First I would disable notifications in the Fitbit app. then enable. you should be asked how you want to receive notifications. 

At least my android phone will ask when setting up notifications.

I have tried that several times as well.  The real issue is I would like the contact name to show instead of New Message because I am getting all my notifications.  Also when I tap the new message it doesn't open up for me to read directly on the Versa.

I have a galaxy S7 as well. I just received my versa yesterday. I cannot get any texts at all. I have tried everything! It is good to know that someone with my phone is at least getting messages on their versa.

well I do get the notifications but when someone texts me it doesn't say the contacts name or give me a chance to open it up and do a quick reply.

I just recently updated the system of my Galaxy S7 to the Oreo software.  I deleted and Fitbit app and did a whole factory reset on my Versa.  And I am still getting notifications read as "NEW MESSAGE" and not the contact.  I can't open the text up either to read this.  This is extremely annoying to me and want to know if any other S7 users are having this problem
