When I swipe from top of the screen, all I get is “ nothing new here- you are all caught up”. I do NOT get the quick settings icon. How can I get it?

That explains it. There is no quick settings menu on original Versa. I think that was added to handle additional options such as music and Alexa not on original Versa.
Some of the settings you would get from 'quick settings menu' on V2 are available on original Versa by holding in the left side button a few seconds.
That part of the screen is just at the top, and disappears after 2 seconds. You should get it back if you swipe from the very top when you see that 'noting new' message.
Very strange. That message does not disappear after 2 seconds. I need to push it up manually. And I still don’t get the quick settings icon.
Best AnswerWhat disappears after 2 seconds is the part showing quick settings. The screen with messages or nothing new here stays there. It's just that the quick settings part covers the top of the screen for 2 seconds.
Best AnswerMinor clarification of terminology - that display bar is called the "control center". The quick settings menu is one of the options in the control center.
See Use the clock and apps and control center I assume you cannot access other options in the control center such as music controls with the musical not icon, right?
Thats correct. I cannot get that control centre bar at all.
Best AnswerOn the notifications screen where you seeing 'all caught up', at the very top do you see battery % and date? Just above the date, is there a short gray line? If so, drag down on that gray line.
I do not get the date, battery or grey line. Only that NOTHING NEW HERE writing.
I am starting to think there is something wrong...
Best AnswerThis is a Versa 2, right?
Let's check if on latest firmware version. From clock face, scroll right (swipe left) to 'Settings'' tap that, scroll down to 'About', tap that and check 'Version' number.
Not sure but on 1st glance, it looks like that is not there for original Versa and Versa Lite. So do make sure it really is a Versa 2.
I have a Versa. Not versa 2.
