Just back from cycle this morning my Versa did not display any distance travelled just my heart rate and the exercise duration. Any ideas what might be wrong here.

Welcome to the Fitbit Community @SunsetRunner. I am sorry for the delayed response.

I appreciate your participation in the Forums and sharing that your Fitbit Versa didn't display any distance traveled for your cycle exercise. Thank you for your efforts to resolve the issue. Please confirm if you were using GPS to track your workout? I will be glad to investigate further.

You can find more information about tracking your exercises in this help article: How do I track my workouts with my Fitbit device?

Looking forward to your response!

Yes, GPS was on, device was tracking the time & heart rate, when I got home to synch with the app on my phone it synched 30mins cycling as approx 2500 steps, expected to see at 9 miles covered.

It has to be connected. When you start bike mode, the watch will say connecting. When it connects, you click go. If you start without the versa/phone handshake, you won't get anything but time and heart rate and calories burned. If you got steps, were you in bike mode?

OK so I'm just back from a 30 minute cycle, ensured that the handshake between phone and watch completed successfully and carried phone with me in a pocket. I checked the phone every 5 mins or so and it only showed distance and speed when I unlocked the phone. Please advise what can be done to resolve this.  I only have my fitbit 2 weeks and already I am regretting the purchase as I have experienced several sych issues as well during this time

I've never checked the phone while riding. Go by the watch. When you stop cycle mode on the watch and then sync, all your results as well as a map should be available on the fitbit app. What would you need to look at the phone for while riding? The watch has all the real time stats. You just have the phone along for connected GPS.

Well anytime I looked at the watch it had paused. Did not give a realistic result at the end even after synching.  I will just have to put up with it and accept fitbits failings.

I have pause turned off. I had connection issues and pause only makes that worse. Why not turn pause off for now and become more familiar with how the basics work? You should have two stats on your screen while in bike mode, and can swipe the screen for others. I don't remember if that works with pause activated. I can manage to look at mine while riding. If you see pause while riding, the connection dropped.

I checked and the auto pause option was turned on , I have turned it off and will try again.

So I should be able to pair the Versa with the phone app and leave the phone at home, and it should all still synch up with time, distance and GPS map when I get back to the phone?

No, you have to have the phone with you. The Versa uses the phones GPS. Just saying you should be able to get real  time stats on the watch. No need to look at the phone app while riding. After you're done and finish the bike mode on the Versa, once you sync again, all the ride data including a map of the ride will be in the app forever.

Hi, curious how you're doing. Have tried it any more?

Just back in after another 30 min cycle no different. Made all the suggested changes and  this time it has also lost the heart rate mode. It has also re orded the exercise as roughly 2700 steps.

And you are starting/stopping a manual bicycle mode exercise? Have you tried chat support? Maybe there's something off on your Versa. I ALWAYS get a bike workout with time, calories, and heart rate even if connected GPS didn't work, that shows up in my weekly exercise tab after riding and syncing. I ride a lot on a limestone path, so there's a lot of steps added too, but not as a separate walking workout.

This is what my exercise tile looks like engaging bike mode, but the connected GPS didn't connect. I just go anyway and don't fuss with getting connected anymore. I use Samsung Health for actual miles.

And this is how my exercise tile looks if connected GPS worked. I have a path near by, so it was straight out and straight back. You can click the exercise for more details and a better map.
