Notifications are not coming through my Versa 2

My versa 2 doesn't receive any notification.

  1. Open fitbit
  2. Click on profile icon
  3. Select versa 2
  4. Click on notifications

Get this error. Notification service not running. Please restart your phone.

To fix this, I have to perform below steps:

  1. Android phone - settings
  2. Apps and notifications
  3. Special app access
  4. Notification access
  5. disable and enable for fitbit

This issue occurs every day and I have to perform the above steps to fix it every time.

Hi there, @prabhasnayak. Welcome to the Community Forums. Thanks for trying to troubleshoot the issue with your Versa 2 before reaching out. I understand where your concern is coming from.

If you're getting this error message “Notification service is not running. A phone restart is required to re-enable notifications on your tracker”, please note that we’re aware of it and are working to identify a resolution as quickly as possible.

I'd like to provide the following steps that actually work for Huawei users:

  1. On your phone, open the Settings app > Apps and notifications > Apps.
  2. Tap Fitbit > Battery.
  3. Turn off the Power-intensive prompt option.
  4. Tap Launch.
  5. Turn off the Manage automatically option, and turn on the Auto-launch, Secondary launch, and Run in background options.
  6. Tap OK.

Note that you may see a message on your phone related to power consumption and apps scanning in the background. If you follow the steps in this message, the Fitbit app can’t run in the background and certain features may not work properly. Repeat the steps above to enable the Fitbit app to run in the background.

Hope that does the trick for you.

Thank you for the information.

It does look like an automatic battery optimisation setting in my phone is causing this issue.

I disabled it on my OnePLus and it seems like its working fine now.

  • Setting
  • Apps and Notifications
  • Fitbit
  • Battery
  • Don't optimize
