My versa has done something (I wouldn’t have knowingly done this) and now I get a white clock with two circles at the bottom and have to press the button to get to my regular homescreen

 

how do I get the white screen to go away?

It might be that you have activated 'aways-on' display in Settings Display.  That switches the clock display to a much simpler clock face, using less battery, after the time when display would otherwise turn off.

Before posting, re-read to see if it would make sense to someone else not looking at your Fitbit or phone.
