I keep on getting same constant reading of 69bpm every morning when I wake up. Is it normal for one to get same reading every morning, for like 2 weeks?

Thank you all very much @SunsetRunner @AngusR and @Marrrmaduke Let me update you all.

Talking of sleep, yeah been having some sound sleep lately after my travel to a cold region. I don't get my 8hrs goal but anywhere between 4 to 7hrs (I got 6hr:48mins today for example); something I wasn't really good at achieving.

So I after listening to you all, I decided to implement a few things, change a few habits (Sorry Marrr, saw your post late....after drinking 2 bottles of Hunters Beer (not too strong though :)) around 10 pm and watching Triple Frontier on Netflix (Wonderful film by the way, recommend you all watch), few minutes before sleep.

Prior to that, I also noticed the Watch face I use a lot was updated on the 10 of March, not sure if a watch face can start an issue like this yet still I uninstalled it and installed the original Versa watch face (Layers) just to see.

Then I went to sleep. I woke up and sat still as always for rHR to read in the app, then 71bpm appeared (image below). Wow..I was and still excited to see this change.

Could it be from my simple life habits and good sleep lately that's giving me these constant readings? OR from the watch face? Is my HR working after all this while? Maybe I shouldn't worry too much but still worried..lol

Also another thing bothering me is the website readings. The website always adds 1 point to my readings…the 71bpm today is 72bpm on the website dash. 69bpm yesterday was 70bpm on site dash...why? Another is how my rHR changes within the day sometimes after a nap (I can get something like 65bpm her and sometimes (happens 3 out of 10) around 3pm the 65bpm changes to 66 or 65bpm and it happens sometimes after a nap...does it recalculate or what?Wasn't so before or maybe I never paid close attention to it but would love an explanation

Yet still, still excited to see this change, wonder what will happen tomorrow. Should I revert back to my watch face or use this again for now, no drink today. So many questions but glad I'm going through this experience and maybe one day some users will benefit from this thread. Thanks and would love to hear your wonderful and helpful responses as usual, thanks and Happy Sunday.

Hi, AFAIK that's not normal. Try restarting your Versa several times in a row by pressing and holding the left and right lower buttons together untill you see the Fitbit logo and release the buttons. Good luck!!

Yeah I did it about 2 times yesterday but will repeat about 5 times today before I sleep. Don't know why this is happening, watch is barely 4 months old. Also when I check the heart tile it tracks all readings.throughout the day just fine...the problem seems to affect the RHR in the morning only.... unless I'm missing something.

After the numerous troubleshoots, I woke up today with the same reading...sigh, there's something wrong. Even did a reset to no avail yesterday , still the same constant 69 in the app and website also reports it to be constant 70....another problem in addition. Confused now.

PS: Why is this marked SOLVED? cuz it isn't the problem still persists.

Is that the graph showing your _resting_ heart rate? If so, then that could very well be the same for a few days, as it's calculated based on your heart rate over a period of time (overnight, probably), not instantaneously, and depending on many factors it could be quite constant from day to day - indeed, in an ideal world it would be constant as it's the rate your heart should "default" to in some ways.

However, as this isn't an ideal world, it does look a little odd - I've had runs of identical resting heart rates for four or five days, but not as close together as you have seen. However, statistically, it's not impossible for it to happen and for your HR sensor to be fine.

Have you looked at the graphs of your actual heartrate over time for the days where there's concern to see if that shows the kind of variation you would expect if the versa was reading correctly?

I've had constant days before (2 days Max). Now this got me worried since it's almost 2 weeks constant. Got same reading today too.. .. even after some troubleshoots and finally a rest of the watch and reinstallation of the app on my phone yesterday.. yet still same reading today too. Initially it could tell me when I've been dull or hyperactive but now all it does is constant 69 ( website says 70; another mystery to solve between app (constant 69 bpm) and website (constant 70 bpm) displays.

Difference between the website and the app is likely a difference in the algorithm or rounding; I suspect both the app and the website work with the raw data rather than sharing a single result, and might be coded differently.

Have you checked the daily heart rate over time graphs to see if they're "spiky" as would be expected? If they are then I would suggest that the HR sensor is fine, and you've just had a statistical run.

Your heart rate traces look pretty similar during each night, and I suspect that's what the algorithms base resting heart rate on (i.e. when you're moving least). I think you may just have a very consistent resting heart rate. Mine's quite variable but only changes by a couple of BPM one way or the other, and when there's a small range like that, with results reported as an integer, statistically you'll always get runs of the same value eventually.

Of course, as you point out you're not a robot so there really should be some variation eventually - so I can't say for 100% certain that there isn't an issue. Might be worth doing a bit of exercise, getting your heart rate up as shown on the Versa, and then checking your pulse manually to see if they're in the same ballpark.

I think you are right, been thinking about something. My RHR always goes up when I get drunk the previous night....been a while since I took some strong booze and well today being Friday #TGIF with not much work stuff to do...hmm, might use myself as a guinea pig and get drunk tonight to see if the RHR stays at 69 or goes up tomorrow morning 🤔🤔🤔

Funny and coincidentally enough took a pulse test this morning with a 1 minute alarm and it was 69bpm....hmm.

Cuz see something like this is more normal and human to me than a constant 69bpm RHR for almost 2 weeks.Cuz see something like this is more normal and human to me than a constant 69bpm RHR for almost 2 weeks.

Actually, I was vaguely considering suggesting eating some cheese or something to try and give yourself a restless night and see what effect that had... it'll be interesting to see if there's a noticeable difference.

Hi, from a medical point of view it's totally not possible to get the same rHR during two weeks. Your rHR is dependent on the sleep stages your are going through. F.i. if you wake up suddenly out of a deep sleep stage your rHR will show a lower rHR than when you wake up suddenly from a REM stage at which the rHR is always higher than during deep sleep stages, etc. There is sufficient medical evidence for that in a lot of Sleep studies.

Well sadly I still got 69 bpm rHR this morning. Something is definitely wrong with the HR sensor in determining rHR every morning. Really disappointed in Fitbit and this product. Support team is pathetic, they keep referencing articles on how to wear the watch despite me snugging it pretty well on my wrist....I need Technical explanations not article referencing.

@Kenzibit Hey my friend, sorry for my late reply. It's been crazy lately. @AngusR is right about RHR calculations being highly influenced by your night HR. The first thing that stands out when I look at the screenshots of two weeks that you posted is very stable HR recorded during the second week (March 10 till yesterday). Why is that? Did you sleep that well? Did you rest well? Does week of March 3 - March 9 look the same? The HR recorded during day varies, it's the nights that are practically the same. Can you run a little experiment? No, do not have any booze :P, but perhaps you could change your sleeping habit/pattern for one night? Basically, sleep late, move around and do not rest/lie on the couch (yeah binge watching Netflix is out) so to impact yout RHR for that night. I am not entirely convinced there's anything wrong with your tracker. We can always restore it to factory defaults (perform a factory reset), but it's a hassle and it's possible it may not be needed. Honestly, I do envy you these nights of good sleep. hah 😄

Hello @Kenzibit and everyone!

Thanks for being around to help and sharing your thoughts on the situation.

@Kenzibit Thanks for posting that last update on the matter. My suggestion for now would be to give it  couple of days with the settings you have at the time to determine what is happening and if there is any lasting impact on the tracking. I'd like to continue looking at your situation to better understand what might be happening.

Let us know how it goes for tomorrow morning or if there are any other questions you need assistance with.

@Kenzibit I would stick to current settings as well. Just in case, but I'm pretty sure your HR has been working just fine. Actually, your last 2 weeks (nights) are pretty consistent and corresponding to a decent rest. I would be curious to see what your level of revitalization is (we need to wait for sleep score to be released for that😍). To answer your questions about naps, yes those are wonderful sources of data for RHR so Fitbit will jump on them. My observation is anything during sleep or lack of movement (vegetating on the couch) will count. It seems to me your Versa is working perfectly fine. Keep doing it what you've been doing because that sleep is 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻.
