Quality Issues with Versa

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I have just had to have my FitBit Versa replaced under warranty for the THIRD time since February of this year (it is only the middle of March). The problem is the same- the device will not turn on off the charger or will not turn on at all. I am frustrated because my only option is to replace the watch under warranty, which is great, but the downtime every couple of weeks is irritating. The troubleshooting options available for the Versa online is terrible (the "reset" steps tell you to put the Versa on the charging cradle AND press the left and bottom right buttons, something that's impossible to do while Versa is on the charging cradle). FitBit customer service is great, but I can't help but feel that this product is defective.

@jenniferlg13 I am sorry you've been having so many issues with Versa! You do not need to put Versa in the charging dock to perform a regular reboot (press and hold the left and bottom right buttons) or 3-button factory reset (a hard/factory reset that wipes Versa and restores it to the factory defaults). QC issues happen unfortunately. Everywhere. I'm currently on my 3rd Pixelbook replacement from Google that is having exactly the same issues. Unfortunately, it happens. 😞 Let's hope 3 times is a charm for you!

Unfortunately I continue to have problems. Now on my 5th versa replacement for quality issues. Seems like the ones they are giving me only last a couple of weeks. Now I'm being told that I have to wait for them to receive the malfunctioning one and process it before they send out my replacement, they've never done that before so now I'm without one for even longer, I'm getting so frustrated with the quality of this product. I really like everything else about it but it's an incredibly unreliable and now the customer service about getting replacements is even worse. I know this is just going to continue until I'm out of the warranty. At which point my replacement will fail and I'll have to purchase something else. I would really like to remain a Fitbit customer, but if this is what I can expect from their products I don't see how I can do that. Very disappointing.

I am very disappointed in the quality and reliability of my Fitbit Versa. I am on my THIRD replacement in less than a year. I requested an upgrade this last time and was told they could give me discount on a new one but could not replace the defective one with an upgrade. The kicker is that every time Fitbit replaces the defective one the warranty time continues to tick. So now when I receive the THIRD one there will only be three months left on my warranty. Now that is NOT right!

I thought I was upgrading to a better product from my Whitings Activites Pop watch but I guess not.

It's very sad when a large company like Fitbit does not understand the importance of acknowledging and fixing problems. I will not be recommending or purchasing any Fitbit Products in the future. I encourage other people who are experiencing problems with their Fitbit Versa to post a complaint. Maybe someone at Fitbit cares???

A similar situation happened to me when I got my first Versa (18 months ago), it had to be replaced after one month. Now it is damaged again but this time it has no warranty, so the only option Fitbit gave me is to by another Versa. This watch is awesome when working properly but even if I like it I don't want to spend such amount of money every other year. I think that is awful and I am very sorry I have to switch brands because I really loved my Versa but from my experience, I can say it has quality issues.

There definitely is an issue with Fitbit Versa. My Versa broke down just barely 6 months over the warranty period. This happened to my previous Fitbit Alta as well. I have repeatedly requested customer service for a discount on my next purchase precisely because the device is out of warranty, to no avail.

And just a background, I'm not a heavy user. I only do light exercises and don't even immerse this in water. I invested in a lot of Fitbit bands precisely because I came in with the expectation that this would last me for at least 3 years. 1.5 yrs of use is just barely over the warranty period. This is really unacceptable. Fitbit doesn't address their quality issues and didn't even bother to at least offer a discount coupon for future purchases for the inconvenience caused.

I strongly recommend people to get out and switch brands.

Same! Now there is a versa 3 which is probably just as bad.

Fitbit customer service is great, but I have had issues with most Fitbit hardware which is not a customer service issue.  It is a quality issue.  My Versa was 2 months past warranty and all they do is offer a discount to buy another device.  This has happened with most Fitbit products I have had over the years.  It is basically a subscription model.  You buy a device, it fails right after warranty and then you buy another for a discount directly from them so they don't have to pay a retailer and then you do it again when that device fails right after warranty ends. If their app weren't so good I would have left long ago.  Wish apple would come out with a simple activity/sleep tracker.  I don't need apple watch functionality with less than a day of battery life.

My versa lite (which was purchased bc of the same battery issue as above just

out of warranty) has just died. I have been trouble shooting w tech support for a couple weeks now bc of battery draining issues and as of yesterday it’s completely dead. Fitbit's solution is a 35% off code. While nice I really just want a fitness watch that works more than 15-18 months without having to replace. This is my 5th Fitbit (charge, Alta (as a replacement for the charge going bad), Blaze (worked great but super clunky so got the versa when it came out, and the replacement. If I accept the 35% discount it’ll be my 6th Fitbit since December 2015. I wear everyday, track everything I possibly can, have the premium option...  I feel like a loyal customer but not at all valued.
Best of luck with everyone’s battery issues. Hopefully they die for the first time before the warranty runs out or you’ll be replacing soon after.
