Quick replies not working on Versa 2

Hello,

I just received a Versa 2 for Christmas and I love so much about it. It works great with my Google Pixel 2. One thing I have noticed is the replying to texts does not work from the device.

It shows reply and I can click on it but when I try to send a quick reply or record and send, it will say "message on it's way" after sending, it does not show up as sent on my phone and the other person does not get the text. I have allowed all permissions so I don't know what else to do. Please help me out. Both devices are updated.

Thank you!

Holly

Hi there @JoseeBee, welcome on board. Thanks for the details provided in your post and for taking the time to read how you can send messages on your Versa 2. I'll be glad to help you with your inquiry about Alexa.

For more information about how Alexa works, see: How do I use Alexa on my Fitbit Versa 2?

For added functionality, install the Amazon Alexa app on your phone. With the app, your watch can access additional Alexa skills. Note that not all skills work with Versa 2, as they must be able to display feedback as text on the watch’s screen. Versa 2 doesn’t have a speaker, so you won’t hear Alexa respond. For more information about Alexa skills, see amazon.com.

Hi there @SunsetRunner, welcome to the Community Forums. I'm glad to hear that you're enjoying your Versa 2. 😊 Thanks so much for making sure that all permissions have been allowed in order for Quick Replies to work.

Let me share with you that to receive and respond to messages from your device, your phone must be nearby with Bluetooth turned on and the Fitbit app running in the background. To use the microphone in Versa 2 to respond to messages, in the Settings app please make sure the Microphone setting is set to Enabled.

The apps that allow you to reply to a message directly from the notification on your Android phone also support quick replies on your Fitbit device. This includes, but isn’t limited to, apps such as:

  • Text messages
  • Twitter
  • Facebook Messenger
  • Line

Keep me posted and let me know if you have any additional questions.

I have just purchased a Versa 2 and have a samsung smart phone. I am unable to figure out how to use the text message send option. When I say to the Versa 2 Alexa "send message to..." It says "thinking" and then it says "messaging with Alexa is not supported on this device"

I have read that I can use texting but why doesn't it work for me?
