Hello could someone please help me?

I've recently brought the Fitbit Versa and I'm having a bit of a connection issues where I will sync it and that'll work fine but then I'll go to try and set up Fitbit pay and it'll say that error registering Fitbit Versa with Fitbit wallet, error connecting please make sure your watch is in range and turned on.

Please if anyone knows help.

"Error registering Versa with Fitbit wallet" everything I try to do it gives me the same message (error connecting to versa. Make sure it's turned on and close by).

I thought all Versas came with Fitbit Pay.  Now I am seeing that there must wording on the back of my watch and all of that is WAY too small to read.  Using the help functions, I try to pull up wallet from my account screen and that option is not available for me.  Any ideas why?

JCP1107:

In the US, only the Special Editions (with woven bands) come with Fitbit Pay. Definitely worth it if you ask me. They also come with extra (classic) straps, so the $30 difference is basically extra exclusive woven straps and the Fitbit Pay option. A steal really considering the replacement silicon bands from Fitbit cost almost $30 alone.

It took me a few tries to get my cards to show up, but I can't remember what my error messages were...

I have been trying to set-up my AmEx card to use for Fitbit pay on my Versa but I get a message stating "my card cannot be verified with my financial institution".   Has anyone had this issue?  If so, were you able to resolve it?

A warm welcome to the Community @Zack2003@JCP1107@Billster great to see you here and @chugalug thanks for stopping by.

Thanks all for this information, if you are receiving an error at the moment of registering a card, provide me with a screenshot of the error by following the instructions provided in this post.

In the meantime, I recommend verifying that you are doing the following:

  1. With your watch nearby, from the Fitbit app dashboard, tap or click the Account icon.
  2. Tap or click the Wallet tile.
  3. Follow the on-screen instructions to add a payment card. In some cases, your bank may require additional verification. If you’re setting up Fitbit Pay for the first time, you’ll be prompted to set a 4-digit PIN code for your watch (if you haven’t already done so). Note that you also need to have Touch ID or a PIN code turned on for your phone.
  4. After you’ve added a card, follow the on-screen instructions to turn on notifications for your phone (if you haven’t already done so) to complete the setup.

For more information, check the What should I know about Fitbit Pay? article.

Hope to hear from you soon. Robot Happy

Thanks for getting back and for the screenshot @Billster. Could you please tell me which card are you trying to add to your Versa, is it an American Express?

See you around. Robot wink

Yes.  It was American Express.

Dear Moderator,

I have not yet received a reply to the issue I am having entering my AmEx card number so that I can use fitbit pay.  A response would be appreciated.

I click get started within the app and get this error message:

"Error registering versa withb fitbit wallet.

@Billster  I'm having this same problem with my Amex card.  I added US Bank and Capital One cards with no trouble.  Now, I repeatedly get this error message.  (Exact same screen message).  Contacted Support but haven't heard back from them.  Were you able to resolve your issue?  Is there some trick to set up with American Express?

I have not received a response to date.  Still waiting and hopeful.

@Billster  I figured it out!  Amex will only add if you turn off your wifi on your phone and do it over your cellular network.  Also, I made sure the address entered in Wallet was an exact match to the one Amex was using.  Amex had my zip code as zip+4.  I wasn't entering it that way.  I do believe the wifi was the root cause.

Thanks.  I'll try it.  I guess you solved this issue for the Fitbit Service Reps if they are monitoring.

I had contacted them and while I waited (3 days) for a response, I searched the forums for insight.  I found a thread on the Ionic forum (same OS as Versa) that had a number of people stating that over wifi was the issue.  I tried and it worked.  About 15 minutes later Support emailed me suggesting that I try turning off wifi.  Go figure.  I hope they disseminate this information so that others looking for assistance don't wait eons for a resolution.

A  unexpected error has occurred. Please try again later.

Literally no no matter what I do I get this message. I have the special edition and I’ve contacted support. Support was unable to fix the problem and referred “my case” to a higher level of support. I haven’t heard back from them yet.

Restart your phone and your Versa. Turn off the wifi in your Versa and try doing the setup over your cellular network. What banks are your cards?

Also, dumb question but are you currently in the country where your credit cards are from? Even if you have cards from participating countries banks, you have to be in the same country to set up the Wallet app. Can't do if you are traveling.

I have tried the above even restored the versa to factory settings. I am in the same country but it actually won’t even let me get to that part. I hit the wallet app, it goes to preparing, then registering and then pops up the error message. It’s not letting me do the initial set up.
